is an idea I have for a my raid shadow off spec once the 3.2 patch comes in so that I can provide the interupt utility for my guild, the question is that can the shadow spec survive without the meditation?

Seeing as Silence is on
45 second
cooldown, you don't make a very good interrupt.
Shadow spec should look like this:

Get a Shaman for interrupts. You need one anyway for bloodlust, might as well use his full potential ;)

If you take a good look at
Improved Vampiric Embrace
you'll see it no longer benefits the group, thus it's a wasted two talents unless you plan to PvP as Shadow (good luck with that).
Improved Shadowform
can actually help keep your dps from slowing down in situations of constant AoE damage, so it's worth taking for PvE in spite of what it might look like.
Whether or not you want to take
Inner Focus
is completely up to you, as well as what you will sacrifice for it. It's pretty good when macro'd onto Mind Blast or Devouring Plague, but that's up to you to decide.
Personally, I drop a talent in Shadow Reach to get Inner Focus, but that's just me.

They've been steadily nerfing the healing VE does to party members that aren't you. They finally got to the point where party members receive no additional benefit from Imp VE.
VE is still nice to have, just not the type of spell you want to really invest in.

Hmm, that says "the healing received from Vampiric Embrace", though, not "the healing received by the Priest from Vampiric Embrace"? I would read that to mean all healing received through Vampiric Embrace, which would suggest that it includes the group healing.
Did they go and make an unclear tooltip again? Anywhere we can find info on that?

Though I'd have to see it tested, the fact that VE was slowly and steadily being nerfed to limit how much extra healing it gave other party members, I figure they they just decided to drop that extra 6 or less percent and make all the extra healing work only on the caster.
Sorry if that ran on to unintelligible lengths

The rest of those are optional, though, yes. Add to that Improved Spirit Tap -- That's optional
Imp ST may be "optional," but the only thing I'd even consider replacing it with (for raiding) is IF (or in a
SA
build).

It finally occured to me check base vamp embrace vs my own vamp embrace.
This is Base
Vamp Embrace
:
"Afflicts your target with Shadow energy that causes you to be healed for 15% and other party members to be healed for 3% of any Shadow spell damage you deal for 5 min."
This is
Improved Vamp Embrace 2/2
:
"Increases the healing received from Vampiric Embrace by 67%."
And this is what the text of my talented VE says when I hover over it on my castbar:
"Afflicts your target with Shadow energy that causes you to be healed for 25% and other party members to be healed for 5% of any Shadow spell damage you deal for 5 min."
These numbers are correct for what it is doing for me. So yes, Imp Vamp Embrace
does
correctly heal party members =)
I don't know how strong it used to be, I only started playing during 3.0, but currently it is working precisely as it says it does =)

So basically, Improved VE DOES increase healing to other party members...but an extra 2% isn't really worth two talent points.

An extra 10% to yourself, however ...
Yes, it's good, but not necessary. Isn't it the healers job to heal you? :D

My two cents on this is that VE happens to be one of the few utilities that PvE shadow preists can bring to a raid (the others being replenish and the reg priest buffs), And while 5% of your shadow damage might not save the tank, It can allow the raid healers a bit of help when trying to recover from massive damage.
On the other note, the extra 10% heal to myself is great because it can almost nerf the damage from PW:D :)
