I'm a Druid and was wondering about a Priest.

Alright,
I'm a Druid, resto and resto only, and I rolled this toon just for the healing. But once i get into the more progressed content it seems like all my healing is being "sniped" by priests and pallies. So I've been thinking about rerolling to a priest because there is no way I am going to be a faceroll heals. Is the effect of priests being better healers just me, or is it actuality?
P.S. I honestly dont mind rerolling, plus ive always kinda thought priests looked cool the way they did stuff anyways.

Honoestly? im almost always pipped by a druid on the meters. But they are two different types of healing. If you want the pressure of healing up targets that just hit 10% HP, then yes a priest is great. We have a lot of spells for different situations and would be a good change from druid healing, but a druids style of healing is nothing to laugh at. Both are great and are needed, its just a change of roles.
That said, i think in tier 10 gear, a druid will really, really pull ahead of a priest (unofrtuantly :\ )

Thanks for the response. I guess once i get better gear it will reflect more of what you are telling me, but then again it never hurts to have a HoT heal toon and a Cast heal toon.

When I heal with druids in the raid, their HoTs usually get the targets back to 100% before my Flash Heal is done/Penance arrives and I end up overhealing. I guess you're just unlucky.

Well, on fights like Twin Val'Kyr where there's constant raid-wide damage, Resto really shines. I can't even come close to a Resto Druid on that fight, as a Holy Priest.
From what I see, Priest has lots of instant heals, where Druid has lots of HoTs. CoH heals instantly, Wild Growth heals over time, but they're both the same basic spell.
I've never played a Resto druid before, heck, I've never played a Druid, but from what I've seen from the two great Resto druids in my guild, you pretty much just put HoTs on people in anticipation of incoming damage, sort of like how Priests' Power Word: Shield works.

Make one of every class. That's what i did. You learn how both sides of the fence (Or all 4? lol) handle each situation in a raid quite quickly, and what your specific class brings to the table. There are times i miss all the hots my druid has while playing my priest, others, i miss magic and disease dispels and the power healing my priest can pump out.
