I started playing in Vanilla, just before BC came out, and wasn't even 70 when WotLK arrived.
From about lvl10 I used to trawl the ah for greens. I would buy, for my mage, all sorts of different gear because I thought I needed to balance my stats as they were int-heavy. Agi staff, str rings, all that sort of thing.
I would get lost exploring anywhere and everywhere, the non-instance area in front of DM's was always a good one, and the bit in front of BFD.
The obligatory confusion with the need/greed system (I took over a year to figure that out, I didn't do dungeons at all just because I didn't get it).
My original char, that mage, still has leatherworking/enchanting.
I used to /lol @ all the lvl80's that would sit on their mounts outside the bank in IF and /say "Damn, I can't wait until I'm lvl80 so I can sit in Ironforge all day t-talking shush it in /2!"
True to my word, at lvl80 I went and joined them. xD
At 80 I was such a nubchups I had no idea about rotations or gearing. I'd missed out on Naxx and Ulduar and dinged 80 at the tournament, while it was still under construction. A kindly guildie spent a good few hours explaining that I didn't need Fire Blast in my rotation just because it was instant-cast, I needed to use Arcane spells as an Arcane mage.
Stood in fire..... a lot.
Didn't have Ice Block keybound, or Slow Fall, for that matter.
I think it's safe to say that for the 1st 2 years of the 7 I've been playing this game, there was no bigger nubcake on Bronze Dragonflight-eu.
It may be worth mentioning (maybe not), I saw a post at the start of this thread, posted over 6 years ago, talking about not knowing about the Orb of Translocation in Silvermoon. I just found out about that 3 months ago. >.>

When I first started out, I didn't know you could revive your pet as a hunter.
So I leveled from 15 to 45 before my kind big brother asked me why I didn't have a pet active....
I leveled several characters to 50 and deleted them to start over, because I thought it would increase my stats-per-level with said class...
I didn't loot/use vendors until around level 70 on my first raid-ready character, because I thought it was useless to loot things I couldn't equip... On that note, I destroyed everything I couldn't use anymore.
Didn't get a professions before well into Wrath, because I thought it wasn't worth it to spend time "working" when I didn't even want to do my homework, lol...

... deleted my first toon (druid) because I could not survive the Orcs just past Lakeshire. (made a hunter instead)
... thought IF was a dungeon, due to the portals to and from the tram, from SW. Walked into IF for a few seconds and ran back out. I was so scared that mobs would come and kill me because I wasn't in a group.
... cried, REAL tears, when I had to release my
pet
in lieu of
another
. (didn't know about stable masters)
... my hunter loved her
Hibernal Robe
.
... repeatedly left guilds because people talked about their real lives in guild chat.

... I gave up on my first character, and Undead Warlock, because it kept dying in the stupid murloc village, around level 10. I thought I had to stand on his corpse to rez; didn't realize that I could be a safe distance away and still rez, so I died every time I'd rez. After a week (YES, 7 DAYS!), I deleted that toon and started a human lock, which I'm still playing almost 4 years later.
... thought the AH used real money, so I refused to even walk in the building.
... didn't find out that guilds were helpful until somewhere between level 40-50 on that first human lock.
... was scared to raid on my first max toon (at 85) because I sucked. Bad.
... couldn't tell the difference in a fire mage and a destro lock. Now I know that a fire mage is just a wannabe destro lock that can't handle the evil spells nor the power. <evil grin>
