I park my hunter near the north tower, by the bridge, with my cat parked in stealth and on aggressive on the bridge, then throw ice arrows, and arrows on the bridge. With a semi mediocre healer standing next to me, and healing the elite bridge guard, and a semi tank type dk or something, we usually hold the bridge until the other 35 or so of our guys have finished taking our towers, back capping, and started van. The archers in our towers just wreck any horde silly enough to get stuck on the bridge, and with me throwing flares, stealthys just get shredded...all the same, a horde turtle, or a coordinated offense, can steam roll us every time. and its not exactly super easy to get to drek either. plus you guys CAN summon the frost lord... /jealous...

Horde win on Vengence by turtling. Stop the zerg and 90% of the alliance team just goes wave after wave right into the horde and die religiously every time. I think it has something to do with the amount of levelers in AV now.... If we can pull a zerg off and hold FWK, we usually win. If they turtle and back cap, we usually lose.

Well, (last time I checked atleast), Alliance usually win in AVs in most battle groups.
Wrong. You personal experience != facts.
I play both Horde and Alliance on different server/battlegroup and it greatly depend of when you get into those BGs. On the same server at a certain time of the day/week, it will be a side who win mostly, while the at another time, its the other side.

Geographically, some of the terrain would seem to favor Alliance. The fact that the Alliance can run right past the bunker where Bal is (easy to setup a strong D before Horde get there; though it doesn't happen all that often that I'm aware of...), keep going straight up to the GY in the "center" of the map, and still get to Galv's bunker before Horde are half way across the Field of Strife, would seem slightly unfair.
90% of matches I play, opening messages are (aside from random chit chat among our players),
The battle for Alterac Valley has begun!
The Alliance have taken the Irondeep Mine, it's resources will be used as extra reinforcements!
has claimed the Graveyard! If left unchecked the Alliance will control it!
General Galv yells: Die! Your kind has no place in Alterac Valley!
And all this before we've made it across the Field of Strife. -.-;
We still manage to win at least 50% of the time, but it's still kinda annoying.

AV is unbalanced in a way.
If both teams use a good strategy its fair.
If both teams just run around doing whatever or zerging to base alliance have a pretty massive advantage.
I try to tell people get base back, some people need to defend. Guard graveyards and so on but all i get back is abuse. Its like wtf im talking about getting some kind of strategy together and u just wanna insult me and stuff. Way too many clueless idiots on this game in pvp.

Depends what Battlegroup you're on. Stormstrike is awful to be on for alliance. Once in awhile you'll get a sweet group of players, and just faceroll to drek, but the other 80% of the time we're getting rocked in every BG. It doesn't help that there's more people still in the leveling process in AV then there are 80's, now a days.
Wtf? I have a toon in almost every bracket for every bg and Alliance win at least 70% of the time unless it's just a bad day and us Horde actually get some good players/listeners/defense.... Oh wait, we have none of that. Ever. >.>
Idk where you play dude, but you aren't doing it right. :3

First up. i'm not sure i care about the fact that galv and bal's arn't symetrical.
Riding 5 seconds longer to get around to the entry point it isn't cause for imbalance. Unless your saying the horde get lost riding around?
As for the alliance bridge defense, your right it is a nice choke point. It however isn't terribly different when the horde are defending their choke point.
Their casters stand on top on the towers while the melee stand near the top of the ramp up. the result is that we have to wade through aoe effects and bloodthirsty melee just to get into a suitable setup.
And thats with the tower gauntlet that horde have.
Alliance can and do stand near the bridge causing havok, but i don't see it being terribly harder.
As for the fact that alliance towers shoot out "right". Its counted by the fact that you only ever have to deal with one at a time.
As to answer your question, do i think av is inbalanced. I'd say so, but only because of the players.
Alliance loose AV on my battlegroup more often then not. Its always been that way, since all the way back to 60.
Winning av endgame was a feat of strength for alliance side.
But thats because the horde were always motivated for the win and would ensure a win, while alliance were demoralized and often full of afk'ers.
I think you'll find that whatever imbalance exists in the map, its nothing compared to the mentality/moral of the players inside it.

It is
VERY
unfair toward Horde. The fact that any Horde group ever wins just goes to illustrate the awfulness of the Ally team faced or the Skill of the Horde Team. These are not deniable.
Archers shoot you attempting to solo cap an Ally Tower. Horde towers allow you to be inside a nice hidden room to cap at free will. And also only need to defend a small suare area with only a small door.
Starting at the mid map.
Galvs door is a straight shot and Bals isnt.
Ice Blood Tower is about 10 feet from Galvs door.
Frostwolf Graveyard compared to Stormpike. No effing contest. One is wide open on flat land and the other is tucked into an easily defense area of a bottleneck.
The infamous Bridge of death. versus Horde Jump over the fence defense. Once inside Hode base you can very easily avoid all NPCs and make it to a nice shelter and out of Archers LOS to get setup to run in.
Being shot half way across bridge with no cover but to retreat, if you advance 2 towers will be shooting you. Aid station surrounded by 1000 npcs 2 inches from Alliance recall point. No where to hide once in base at all.
Frostwilf aid station is tucked across a bridge and away from recall point only guarded by the usual 4 GY guards.
You can hide in the frozen river around the side of the main keep and pull the guards safely to solo or wait for others to come and get all set up. If anyone comes to defend and you think you may lose you can run and jump off the frozen waterfall and run around to jump fence again.
Even the mines are lopsided. Allies is tucked nice and neat right next to their cave and Horde is in wide pen area.
None of this makes any difference really as it has all been pointed out over and over even with pictures on the Official forums but Blizz doesnt care. But the fact that some people in this thread say it is fair and all that nonsense is absurd.
