I have an old computer that the family got a few years ago. It has Windows XP Home Edition.
It's completely ruined now, due to several viruses and as many anti-virus checks. I need to completely reboot it to it's factory condition, but everything I've tried has failed. D:
Does anyone know how to restart a computer completely without using the installation disks?
Thanks :D
Note that I've tried a few places on the web, they all said use the installation disks.

Update: Just typed format C: in cmd.exe and looks something like this:
C:\Documents and Settings\Sean>format C:
The type of the file system is FAT32.
Enter current volume label for drive C: _

Have you looked in the control panel? Last time I did it the option was somewhere in the control panel.

I tried system restore but it doesn't go back far enough.
I have Vista on the machine I'm posting on now, and you can get factory condition by going into system restore before bootup by pressing F11. This isn't the case on XP. :/
Thanks anyway.

No not the temp restore the full restore it IS in the control panel somewhere it will just take a while of searching. And make sure to take backups of everything before you do it. It WILL delete everything you have.

Throw it out the window, or kick it. That should do the trick. ;)

First you need a nine iron and a tall bridge...
Then go to your nearest Mac store.
Seriously.
I spent NZD$6k building a pc a few years ago. Top of the line, best specs and gear at the time. Also spent every 3 months wiping the HDD with fresh Windows because of viruses and malware.
Have had teh Macbook for 18 months now, not a problem. EVER. Even plays WoW beautifully. AND I look at more dodgy sites than I did when I had my PC.

Preferably for free

Ok, so Mac is out of the question.
I'll look around Control Panel for the full reset.
Is there anything I should be looking for? >>
