Don't forget to socket your stuff, either.. I'd say about 20% of my item's value is in enchants and sockets.

Healing isn't just about the healer, but also about the tank and DPS. In a good 5 man group, you will hope to have good CC and tanking so that only the tank gets damaged. That way you can focus your healing.
In groups with random people, though, the stronger the healer is the more likely success will be. Try and aim for over 1000 +heal, 3 figures for mp5 with BoW and a bit of crit to get you started.
Mana pool isn't too important since fights don't tend to last long enough for it to become an issue. Get +12 int enchanted on your shield
Get a
Silver Spellthread
for your legs. It's not too expensive to get made up by a tailor.
If you have money to spare, then
Blessed Bracers
are very nice until you are raiding.
If money is an issue then PvP rewards are quite good for holy paladins - see the
Vindicator's Ornamented Gear
. Takes a bit of grinding.
Get some add-ons to help you heal. Don't use the Blizzard UI to heal as it isn't built for speed. Get some good frames (Grid or PerfectRaid) and a click cast utility (Clique is the best), spend some time setting them up and getting to know them.

Thrallmar to Revered for their head enchant:

Aldor to Exalted for their shoulder enchant:

Only Reps I can think of for PvP since pretty much all gear can be gotten from PvP for PvP, but not enchants.

As a newly respec'd holy roller myself, though I am lower in lvl (42), my main question is about helpful addons for group healing. Any recommendations?

Also I would like to recommend all new starting off paladins to invest in Royal Nightseye gems (+9 healing, +2mp5) since mana efficiency is key for paladins.
All +18 healing gems will cause overhealing, not efficiency.
