I was just talking to a fellow rogue about this and he gave me the following strategy:
Bleed the paly down while kiting. The paladin will only have a few moves available to you if you can keep him at a distance, so keep a rupture and a garrote up and make sure crippling poison doesn't fall.
I haven't had an opportunity to try it out, though.

the only true way of killing a retardin is to get a holy paladin to heal you :|

Every fight is different but i usually try to go
Stealth>Sap>Cheap Shot>Mutilate 5CP>Kidney Shot>Mutilate 4CP/5CP>Rupture>Vanish>Garrote>Disarm>Mutilate 5CP>Cold Blood Eviscerate.
Somewhere along that you will eventually get Stunned, the paladin will eventually trinket out, if not then you're good. If so then Trinket out of the stun and Blind immediately>CoS>Vanish.
Usually works for me but sometimes i just plain out get destroyed.
Another thing to try is to try to get the paladin to bubble ASAP and vanish and restart the fight, a paladin without a bubble=game.

The most pivotal part of trying to defeat one is timing when you use your cloak of shadows. Using it at the right time can mean resisting basically everything in his arsenal except crusader strike. Even crusader strike can be dodged with evasion. Most of the stupid *!@#s always use the same rotation of Judgement, CS, Divine Storm, and they throw Consecrate up somewhere in that. This means you should use CoS right when they have control over their character, assuming they use the dumb!@#$ rotation that 98% of the ret pallys use.

Force a bubble as soon as possible. Keep him ruptured and exposed. Don't waste your trinket on repentance, save it for hammer instead. Try to predict hammer/repentance and clos it. Use dismantle and evasion separately.

Spec shadow dance, burst him down in seconds.
He might bubble fast enough :X
so dual spec ready on mut, change to it when he bubbles, nuke - win.

Seems like most of the people in this thread are forgetting that ret paladins can freedom out of stuns. This game isn't balanced at 1v1 at all, sorry to say but ret will pretty much counter rogue every time unless there is a huge gap in gear or there is outside assistance.

I'm so tired of having to "kill" Belf Rets twice to bring them down once.

On my pally, I can get out of all the stuns until DRs kicks in and the stuns aren't doing anything. Trinket, Hand of freedom, bubble, lay on hands etc.
The thing that typically gets me on my pally is when a rogue kites me when I grow wings or bubble. I like the idea that someone mentioned about making the pally blow his bubble with burst damage. If a rogue can't destroy me in the first few seconds and make me fear for my life, I won't blow it though. It takes phenominal burst to make me worry. I believe that hand of freedom will give a pally 10 seconds of immunity to snares and traps too, so if you kite, you might need to dash.
Only reason I posted this was because I am leveling my rogue, and reading different perspectives helps. Honestly, I like the idea of teaming with someone as a rogue. Let the other person make them blow their CDs, then suprise them. xD Aren't rogues supposed to be oppertunists?

The Ret pally was wearing alot of PvE gear in that vid and the rogue seems to be geared VERY well. 23,000 health on that guy.

Still, that doesn't mean there aren't a lot of good tips for new PvPers (like me) to take away from it.
