Just dinged 80?run totc normal 10-20times and ohhh i am almost epic geared in 2 days:)
Harper you should level up proffesions lazy boy!skinning in 3 days(2 hours a day) and you reach 450 compine it with herb or minning:)
i hate seeing ppl when i run heroics with green and blue items.it took me 2 weeks to find full epic gear(item level 200) on my priest.then run voa, onyxia,os for upgrades.

i really loved leveling my dk.too many special abilities i could pull 3-4 mobs and kill em easilly.now i am tank since i already have a dps character(hunter).but i still found dks the most interesting class(and i have played with all classes) because they are mellee with spells and diseases.i played as unholy and then turned to frost as dps.as tank i am blood.

Without hit rating or expertise you will be in the same boat as everyone else: needing to gear up. Everyone knows DKs are uber-easy to level... so have a great time doing it. But when you hit 80, you will still be behind for lots of reasons. So yes, you will be undergeared at 80, just like everyone else. You can minimize it by planning well, but you can't skip over anything, no matter how overpowered you currently feel.

To be less geared than the dungeon requires? You're not going to tank with 500 defense and 16k health.

It's easy to get good leveling gear whle in Northrend but you'll find once you start hitting the HC's you will need to get out of the blues ASAP as your going to either A) Do such little DPS the mobs die out of laughfter, B) Require some seriously awsome healing while you are tanking as you have so little dodge yor getting hits so hard even at the def cap.
The problem all of us DK's face is the class has a bad reputation and the slightest mess up gets you so much grief it's unreal. I have always tried my best to be over prepaired when doing things so it goes smoothly and noone passes any snide comments. Luckily ToC5 just throws out perfect gear for DK's and the HC ToC5 helps give you at least one nice thing a day.Ultimatley you will have to pick which spec you want to go and start getting gear to give the stats that suit it best. For me I have always been Blood so I have always gone for getting my stats aimed towards expertise cap , hit and a good crit. With Frost you will have to seriously work hard to get the right stats and get 2 good wepons to do the job.
The other biggest mistake I have noticed with alot of DK's is they get good gear but have a rotation that is so messy and lose they are dropping over 2000 dps because of this. DK's need to have a good rotation that allows for runic cool downs , enables good managment of runic power and keeps up and deases ect that you need to maxumise your damage. It's fairly easy to do aceptable damage in a HC but to get your DPS or to Tank in proper raids you will need alot more than you inteinally think.

Ermmmm
Anyway DK's are just as good at tanking as any other class, but due to the lack of having the ability to use a sheild you need to focus on items with dodge and def. Block is useless to a DK so you can filter out any that drops.
As I posted before getting a DK to an ok standard is not as simple as you are finding at the moment and people are less patient with DK due to the stigma the class has.
