Wow, that's really a bad idea. As a melee dps, and regular raid leader. I will say that you can tell the difference between a 6 percent hit and an 8 percent hit capped player. However 7.5 percent and 8 percent you can't lol. However if you spec into the 3 percent hit and knock your total hit needs down to 5 percent than why not do it? It would allow you to use the better gear with less worry about that 8 percent.

I really dont see how ppl can have hit rating problems. Most of the gear now has hit, I myself didnt take some items due to them having hit.
Also alot of ppl forget about our amazing 30 hit scope(from molten core but still). The gain u get from it over the 40 crit scope is major, and considering we arent replacing our ranged weaps that often its not expensive at all and easily solo farmable.
Until recently i run about 16 hit rating over the the hit cap.
heres my armory link to any1 who wants to see my gear

This might be a little off topic, but it's really nice to see people that are bound and determined to be hit capped. I see so many people, not just hunters, that have great gear but aren't hit capped. Being hit capped needs to be preached to the masses!

Greetings,
I'll go ahead and include my
armory link
. I'm not in a hardcore progressive guild, so maybe the gear "that's loaded with hit" I see everyone talk about is farther up the line. As it stands now, if I were to replace any of my boots, belt, back, neck...I'd be significantly under the hitcap just from one item changing. Boots of Living Scale? Banked. Belt of Dragons? Banked. New neck? Didn't buy it cause I can't wear it anyway.
So I'm playing around with some older daggers on the sheet and dumping the stat stick, boosting my hit rating some and switching out my boots for Living Scale and Wailing Night on the neck just to see what it does. I see about a 17 point increase in overall dps. But I'm 11 points under hit. I just have a hard time convincing myself to make that switch which lead to this post to begin with.
Edit: Changed neck as well.

As I see the situation, then I have also found that most of the new Ulduar gear lags some hit-rating, but when you get more progression you also get more hit-rating from items, which in the end means that you should spec into the hitrating and then just keep getting more items with more hit on them.
Looked at what I considered BiS for SV hunters from Ulduar and got around 350 hit-rating, so dont worry the hit-rating will come :-)
Dont eat the food buffs btw, 40 agi is much much better, when you can move a talentpoint or two, till you get the hit-rating back..

If you look at EJ's highest DPS MM spec with BiS gear they are speccing 3/3 Focused Aim so they only have to cap Hit Rating at 5% on gear.
