Last time I healed H ToC I had major problems. I was sitting at just under 2000 SP, 17K mana, and 14k health. We wiped 3 times on the first set of bosses(Rouge, Shaman, Hunter), Once on the second boss(Paletress), and another 2 times on the black night. I know it was my fault as I just couldn't keep up with the damage, or a couple of times I was hit & killed extremely quickly. So I would like some help & guidance beyond what I have already done. I would like to pregress into Ulduar, Ony, & ToC 10, but know I am not ready.
1) What I've done
So far I have gotten some upgrades from Naxx & OS (10 man) and I have to say running those was much easier, the other healer was a very well geared druid, but he was only about 10% ahead of me on healing, I'm assuming mostly because of the lower amount of healing needed compared to what he is actually able to put out.
I also respecced to move some points around. I moved some points from mana saving / regeneration talents & glyphs to one which increase actual healing. The reason was that I wasn't able to keep up with the damage, but had mana to spare, and figured more mana I can turn into health the better at this point.
2) Problems I was having.
The biggest was just not being able to keep up with the damage, I'm sure a fair bit of it was skill, and luckily it was a guild run & the tank was an alt of our main healer. So I got lots of advice & coaching during that run. Could you guys give me some advice on gear / talents & glyphs. Like I said before I'm not following the cookie cutter build b/c I just wasn't able to keep the tank alive with the "recommended" holy build.
My other problem was just dieing, I died 3 times during the run & caused 2 of the wipes from not being there. I don't know if there is much or anything I can do about it, but advice would be nice. The first death was to the hunter, Lightning arrow followed by a regular shot. The second was from 2 smites in a row from paletress. The third was P3 of the black knight, luckily it was right at the end & the group downed him before anyone else died.
Here is a link to my current
Armory
Any advice on how to progress to harder content would be much appricieated, as well on tips healing situations to come.

Healing Focus helps, you don't have it. Ghould and AoE won't kill directly, but their continued interrupts will.
Lightwell allows you to heal yourself without spending GCDs. It's effectively 25% more haste. You can use the lightwell even while casting a spell.

Desperate prayer probably would have saved me at least once, so I might drop a point from Holy reach, but the big reason I got that was for the increased radius of the AoE heals for raid healing. Also Renew is without a doubt one of my favorite spells, I keep it rolling on the tank at all times, also it is the first heal I reach for is someone takes damage, a 1500 point instant w/ 2200hp ticks and chances to crit on each one.
As for Inner Focus & Healing Prayers, I actually took points out of those because I wasn't having mana issues, I just wasn't keeping up with the damage. What is the point of mana efficiency if the tank dies after 2 minutes & I still have tons of mana? I haven't healed a lot since respeccing, only a couple heroics, Naxx & OS, but I only ran out of mana once. In my defense the other healer got ganked by a patrol in OS, So I was left alone to heal for the MT on a drake & the OT with the pat while most of the raid had already entered the portal w/o a healer...
I would like to switch points back so I can last longer in fights, but again there is no point in being able to cast heals for 10 minutes straight if they aren't strong enough to keep the tank alive. As I said some of this does come down to skill & practice, so as I learn to heal better I may find switching those points back less costly, but for now I seem to need througput more than mana.
I never thought about lightwell, as the click to use thing made me think it would interrupt casting, or not get used by most of the group / raid.
I looked at Healing Focus, but didn't think I was getting knocked back very often, I suppose I may just not have noticed getting knocked back since I was panicing trying to fling my next heal spell. I'll keep a closer eye & take a second look at it.
Thanks for the advice so far.

I would only like to hit again on the PWS technique. The disc mentality of "healing the damage before the damage comes" is why many people actually reccomend it for preists just starting heroics. For you, dont think of PWS as a shield nearly as much as an instant heal for X amount that doesnt show up on grid/healbot.
You are right in thinking that HToC has alot of damage for the healer to take care of. The sad part is that I can clearly tell the difference when the group is :tank,me, 3 RANGED dps, vs tank, me, 3 melee dps. The warrior does so much damage with whirlwind while the rouge does so much with his poison bomb that it really makes a difference if the dps are paying attention and "move out of the fire" When the group forms, take a look. For any melee on the champions fight, shield/renew them if you can tell the warrior is whilrwind, or if the rouge lands a poison, but otherwise focus on keeping the tank and yourself up. When they die, ask them to "avoid the fire" because you cant heal through it. Also this phase is when PoM REALLY shines. EVERY CD!
Good tanks will move the target when either of these occur to help the dps avoid such damage....
For phase two, really work hard on using Binding heal if you are at all damaged. The smites on you won't come faster than you can cast a binding heal, and thankfully unless you get 4 in a row (yes it has happened to me) it wont out race your binding heal. the other advice on that phase is also good.
Dropping IF because you dont need the mana is understandable. And I know that the extra crit doesnt help holy
as much
as it helps disc....but crit is more throughput....think about it....Consider not saving IF for that once a fight spell, but instead macro'd into your CoH so every 1.5 min it is a crit machine CoH
havent played holy since I was Lvling, but yeah, I would use lightwell ALL the time while lvling to heal myself saving mana for killing :) Figuring ot the "focus target" system in wow is useful when working with lightwell. Set the focus on the tank(or the lightwell depending on how you want to work it) and enjoy
phase 1 of black knight. Bubble/renew tank and then watch the herald...he actualy becomes the ghoul. Time to reach for the shackle undead spell, you can usually target the critter and lock him down before you need to go back to healing regular...saves alot of headache too. Yes most times he will break shackles before the end of the phase....but it still helps.
Havent found a good strat for phase 2.....Easier as disc, just throwing instants while i run in circles around the tank....oh, but just in case you arent already, cure the disease off the tank....
Phase 3 of black knight.....Tell your group to stack on the tank as best they can, you stack on tank too.....holy nova filler inbetween the CoH and SoL procs should get you a little further....remember the only reason why holy nova is usually not the right choice is because the heals are usually not effective against people not in the radius or not damaged, in phase three of the Black knight, you can have both.

It depends on the group.
I have had groups suck down every bit of my 33K mana (popped fiend + pot) from me on 3 champions from all the heals. I have had groups where my mana never went below 70% (24K mana).
My healing strategy wasn't any different.
I just did a HoL where the Rogue died like 6 times. Everyone else never was fine. I didn't heal any differently.
I think your SP & HP are fine. You MAY be a bit light on mana, but 17K should be fine in most cases.
