Whats wrong with gambling to you by the way ? It teaches you maths, it introduces you to investment which you would surely use in your life at some point and arguably its fun.
Fail argument. It doesn't teach you maths(sic). Those people who know math are the ones who know that gambling is a losing proposition. It's not investment, and the argument that it introduces you to investment which is something you'd use in your life; that's not a logical argument, this game isn't here to teach me investment, nor anything else.
The only thing you got right is that gambling is fun. Gambling is entertainment. Those people you see in the World Series of Poker are outliers; real people know that you don't gamble with anything more than you can afford to lose.
That being said, I would not be opposed to gambling being introduced by the Goblins. It could be any of a number of mini-games, as long as it's 1) run on Blizzard's side and 2) isn't abuse-able.
Just keep in mind that it would be for fun. The house always wins.

You must be under 18, because otherwise you would know that Pokies require no skill at all, you press a button

The only people who lose at gambling are the people who arent good enough.
When you turn 21, make sure you call ahead when you go to Vegas. They are going to love you there.

Whats this got to do with gambling in WoW ?
Secondly, psychologists would love you thinking you know a total stranger by reading a sentence.
I've already commented on gambling in WoW. I think it's a good idea.
Your opinions on the real world correlations between gambling and investing is what has me laughing and further commenting. Here, I'll line by line your first post:
I think with Goblins being introduced that a soft form of gambling should be introduced,
Sure, sounds like a good idea, and something that Goblins would be involved in,
lets face it the Goblins are renowned for " Haggling " and i consider that a form of Gambling, heck just trading money for goods is gambling.
Haggling is a form of gambling? Trading money for goods is gambling? I don't understand why you'd try and equate the word gambling with the broadest and furthest edge of the definition of the word. The idea stands on its own.
But what kind of Gambling ? I think " prices " being offered for a different battleground every weekend, in line with the " BG weekend " we'd see " prices " offered with those 3 bg weekend days. Example: Invest 100g in your faction to win the very next BG you're involved in and you're offered a flat price of like 2g, so that would mean you risk losing 100g or increasing it two fold to 200g
Sounds like a great idea. The rake would have to be much more than 2g though.
Yes theres also those who think gambling introduced in WoW would be a bad influence on kids who play,
And so is killing things, and the blood and explosions, and the foul language you can find in guild and trade chats. This is a non-issue.
well i say that gambling is just as bad as introducing kids to modern day investing in businesses and companies but hey almost every millionare world wide has links to investments.
I don't understand this argument. Introducing kids to modern day investing is
not
bad; it's economics. The premise itself that "gambling is bad" is out of context in a game such as WoW. It's not going to make kids go out to Casinos or start underground poker rooms.
Gambling is a sin in some religions but hey this is a game and if these people are so shallow that they're influenced by a fictious game then perhaps avoiding fictional gambling isnt their biggest issue in life.
Agreed, and this is the end all, be all to the argument. I'm sure stabbing people with swords is against peoples religions too; those people don't play this game. Adding a Goblin Gambling Hall to the game isn't going to drive away any customers...
The positives outweigh the negatives in my opinion.
your thoughts ? :)
I agree that the positives outweigh any negatives. It would be a fun addition.
My only issue is with the way you presented the idea. You used ludicrous arguments; trading is gambling, haggling is gambling, gambling and investing are the same, gambling teaches you math, "The only people who lose at gambling are the people who arent good enough". It's unnecessary.
If I were to offer to rewrite your initial post:
With Goblins being introduced in Cataclysm, I think that a soft form of gambling should be introduced. Lets face it, the Goblins are renowned for "haggling" and being a rather seedy bunch, and I think gambling would be something that would fit nicely into their culture.
But what kind of gambling? I think "prices" being offered for a different battleground every weekend, in line with the "BG weekend."
Example: Put down 100g that your faction will win the very next BG you're involved in. You can place the bet at a flat fee of, say, 20g. If you end up winning your BG you'll collect double your bet (200g).
Other possible games could be put together in a gambling hall as well. The key would be everything being Blizzard run, it not being abuse-able, and overall be a fun side-thing to do.
Your thoughts?

Gambling already exists in-game, its called the auction house. You try and predict whether prices will go up or down, you buy things, and then you try to sell them for a profit.

I think this sort of thing could be fixed too. People could lose on purpose. It might inflate the economy. I could see it having negative impacts if it wasn't done correctly.

No (sic) necessary. Maths is what they call math in the rest of the world.
