I don't honestly care. Besides AB, where is this useful? lol even in world pvp, there's not very many hotspots with water to even walk over.

Nay. Leave it to DKs.

I would have to say NAY.
Water walking is good, but if you get hit you fall into the water, you still take Fatigue, and there is no-where it would be that usefull. Unless you wanted to RUN off a waterfall, I don't see why you would want water walking.

I say Yay.
Not that they're going to be able maintain any kind of realistic law in a fantastic universe, but I find it really stupid that a mage with the power to freeze people can't freeze water (psstt.....people are made of water). In addition, improved travel is one of the recurring themes to the mages' general identity. I don't think if you get hit you should fall into the water.
And it's not unprecedented. Just make it a little different than the DK's (maybe the effect only works for the mage, not the whole party, or it has a shorter duration, or the mage suffers a speed debuf from the slippery ice, etc.): it's like the Druids improved speed from cat form being so similar to the Shamans' buff from ghost wolf. The DK and Mage can share a similar ability.
*I supposed we're not all "people" in WoW, but some are. Also, I suppose a frost mage's effects may be the instrument of mental imposition on his enemy, not physical imposition. Pffftttt...whatever, that's all bull!@#$, a mage that can freeze people should freeze water. End of story. Anything else is stupid.

Nah, water walking should be restricted as it is now to a select few classes.

Your mage is an alt; you're a bloody DK, I know it.

I don't roll my DK anymore dude. My mage has better gear, is the gold maker, and is rolling more heroics and starting raids. He's officially become my main.
Do I know you?

Of course you don't know me, lol.
And though I was being mostly facetious, I did suspect you played a DK at some point, and you have to admit, I wasn't wrong, so don't beat me up too bad.
Everybody acknowledges it's primarily an ability of vanity; it has little practical use in any format. So what makes it such a big deal to share it with the mage class when it seems so stupid not to?

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound like I was berating you or something. Everyone that has LK has tried a DK, I'm sure of it. Whether you stick with it to the end or not is another question altogether. I did it mostly out of desperation because frankly my hunter SUCKS.
Anyways, I mean I always thought that each class should have its own idiosyncrasies and special abilities you know? Shamans and DKs get water walking, mages get portals.
While WW does seem to be mostly vanity, I can think of a few cases where it might become useful. One of them is questing in places like zangarmarsh, walking to westfall from STV (if you're horde like me), and ruining someone's day by casting path of frost before another member in your party falls to the water (like in Azjol-Nerub).
Granted I've never done the 3rd, but I have discussed the humorous aspects of it with friends and I'm sure it would be rofl-worthy.
