Best thing I can think of, is with the new Hand of Recknoning (Now deals AP*.5), is run in, use HoR ('Cause you can only use it when the enemy isn't targeting you), then cast Exo as their running to you, and then hit Avenger's Shield right as they reach you, then open your normal rotation.
Two thoughts:
1) You have 1.5 seconds of down-time when the target is in melee range, and you don't have Holy Shield up. I'm not sure that's worth an extra 4-5k threat from Exorcism? Paladins don't really have that much trouble threat-wise as it is, especially since we'll be getting the 7-8k boost from HoR.
2) This only works for single target pulls, I would imagine, leaving your multi-target abilities til the very end. Multi-target, I would still be opening with Avenger's Shield, lay down Consecrate as I'm running forward, Hammer of the Righteous as I'm pulling them back into the Consecrate, then 9-6 with Holy Shield moving forward.
Summary - Exorcism has never been a key skill for us in the first place - it's only since 3.1 that it's been of any use against anything but Undead. So we stick to our straight 9-6 rotation with no Exo sub every 18 seconds for Judgement.

Emm... people don't leave cleaning fluids at child's reach, becouse a kid could drink a MrClean, and end asking for res. In the same way, such a comment has to be clarified:
Don't do that while tanking!
Why? Some new tank can come here to learn, and read this... someone that does not know that
while casting anything that is not instan-cast you cannot dodge-parry-block
for the duration cast time.
Look! I've saved a life! ^_^
Potentially the life of his whole raid.
I will mourn the loss of exorcism while tanking, yes.
But if you could block/dodge/parry while casting it, we wouldn't actually lose it. You have a 1.5 second GCD, which starts when you start casting, so as long as you don't move, it would fit into your rotation exactly as it does now. (Ignoring pushback... if only we could at least remove that)
But frankly, losing block/dodge/parry for 1.5 seconds isn't as scary as it used to be, where you could take crushes and instantly die. Now the worst thing that could happen is you take a bit more damage, but your healers pick it up (depending on the fight).
They can fix up single target threat so it's unchanged or even better than it is now and I'll still mourn Exo, because some fights just call for having that many range abilities to grab adds.

Bolger - I'm not sure what you're trying to say? I was pointing out that by casting Avenger's Shield when mobs get to you, you need to wait a GCD before you can use Holy Shield. It had nothing to do with casting Exorcism in melee range (which 3DG4LIFE wanted to cast while they were out of melee range).
Please learn to read everything in the message, and the context in which it was delivered, especially since there was a quote box just above outlining the scenario!
MischeivousLoki - I'm disappointed you didn't pick that up either ;p
Dobbel is right - if we would normally have a 50% dodge/parry rate, then having 1.5sec casting times on Exorcism essentially doubles the number of hits we take during that time. In this day and age of big boss hits, I don't know that it's worth it. If we just lost Block, then fair enough, but...

Being that Exorcism is changing to a 1.5 sec cast time spell from instant in 3.2, I was wondering what some
protadins were thinking about that? I haven't seen it discussed at all except for PvP ramifications.
My concern is that you can currently substitute it for Consecration if you're single-target tanking for
example, since it's not such a mana hog. However, a big no-no as I understand it, is casting anything
with a cast time is bad since you can no longer block or dodge?
Any experienced protadins like to share their thoughts about this? Do you even use Exorcism now?
Will you still plan to use it or substitute something else? Will you just skip Consecration and leave a
hole in your rotation?
ask protadins, what they were doing, before when they were tanking human mobs? they were just doing normal rotatio, exorcism was a cherry on cake, it was a bonus. so now, they just leave this spell, they tanked good without it and they will still tank good without it end

Ive fallen in love with my instant cast Exorcism throughout Ulduar as an alternate Avengers Shield to grab aggro on adds as they spawn. This was always especially apprarent in Thorim's arena to ensure the various mobs were stuck onto me rather than all making a bee-line to the healer.
Ill certainly still be able to make do in the encounters but it was a nice little skill to have tucked away for moments when your other taunts and initial ranged aggro builds were on CD.

The nerf is silly. It was meant for PvP, but there should be a Major Glyph which makes it Instant Cast on NPCs, or just rewrite the spell to function as such. They keep playing with it because in PvP it's broken.
But they don't need to take another instant cast threat move out of our rotation, an especially good one for Naxx, CC, IC, etc.
My little QQ. Oh well. We're still very OP tanks, it won't hurt that much.

I would have toe agree with Argise. I would use Exorcism in 2 ways
1.) Tanking any single undead boss after using avengin wrath. the 20% to damage and the 100% crit made the damage more than just another 96969 rotation click.
2.) A great way to pick up a freshly spawned mob when your cool downs on taunts are up. As Argise pointed out Throrim's Arena is a place where your going to want every ranged taunt that you can get.
So yes, I'm sad that we are losing it. I think I will make a macro now that casts HoR and then Exorsim to pull a boss from range.

P.S. I dare someone to cast it while tanking hodir during frozen blows :-P

If I ever got to tank single-tank fights, I'd do it and post a SS :P (Always relegated to healing :( )
4 pieces of FR gear + FR Aura + Good Healers = You'd be fine.
The worst thing that'd happen is he hits you 3-4 times in a row. And that already happens every week with my DK tank while I'm healing.

The only thing exo is gonna hurt bad in the next patch is ret. Exo is an afterthought while your tanking. Just use HoR and save yourself the QQ.
That's why The Art of War will give them their instant Exo on any melee crit, so they really won't lose exo. They're not really losing their instant FoL either because it will be for any melee crit, not just from judgment, DS and CS.

I didn't think about it before, but this will probably increase the value of haste and crit for ret paladins somewhat.

Looks like you need to change your tanking spec around a little bit if you want to be a single target tank.
I stay away from the Frost resist gear. On he first frozen blows I use
Divine Protection
and then on the second frozen blows I use both the
Heart Of Iron
and the
Figurine - Monarch Crab
at the same time.
Works like a charm.
*shout out to the healers on Hodir*
