Um, so is there a question or point of discussion that I'm missing? Or are you just giving info?

Between my wife and I, we have 4 Lv80 Druids, and another 3 on the way to 80 (Spread over 3 realms/factions).
That being said, we still each only have 1 "main" druid on which we do world events / achievements / etc. We also enjoy leveling, which seems to be a rare trait. So, I'm not saying you
should
do it... just letting you know you're not alone =)

Not all are awesome. On my hunter last night flying around Storm Peaks. Saw an 80 nelf druid in bear form, just standing around idle outside a cave. Just for the lols I hid behind a tree, hunters marked him, and he panicked into lolcat form and stealthed.
What kind of druid can level to 80 on a high-population pvp server and not learn that there is no point in stealthing with hunters mark applied?
But aside from that, I agree. Druids are awesomeness. 'Specially moonkins. Good luck on levelling another one :)
Just remember if you're going to idle, make sure you stealth!

Moonkin are sooo ugly :(
I like Druids and they are all awesome but that one form really gives me eye cancer. Especially the Tauren version.
As awesome as Druids are I'd recommend trying other things, too. I like my Shaman alt for ranged dps (less ugly!) and tanking on my DK is almost more fun for me then Druid tanking.

Prolly ment to at least get a pounce off before you unstealthed him.

I wouldn't roll another druid just so you can have a healer/boomkin. Just get geared as best you can as kitty/tank and start collecting the other gear then respec and see if you like it. Think of the time you'll waste leveling only to find out you hate boomkin or resto.
Druid players are well known for having big bags with 4 sets of gear. In BC we spent a lot of money each week respec'ng to what our raid leaders needed that night. I am hoping blizz implements tri spec'ng :)
Tri-spec? I could use at least 6 for PvE alone plus another 4 at least for PvP.
PvE:
Moonkin dps
Feral dps
Feral tank
Feral dps/tank hybrid (for fights that only need an additional tank in one phase)
Tree raid healing
Tree tank healing
PvP:
Moonkin
Tree
Resto/Balance hybrid
Feral
Having an infinite number of specs would be awesome ;)

That's actually exactly what he did. When he was jumping around like mad, I had the time to mount and hover about 20ft off the ground and watch him.
He pounced at me, but I lol'd at him and flew off.
One of the rare times in WoW that I lol'd in real life.

It wouldn't be that hard to limit it either. Just make each one double in cost from the last one.
Dual spec - 1000
Tri spec - 2000
Four specs - 4000
Five specs - 8000
etc.
That would be an idea.
But why gold cost at all? Why should re-speccing be a hassle for players?
I think the Guild Wars approach is perfect. You can have many specs saved simply as text files on your hard disc (like macros in WoW) and you are able to load them onto your character with a mouse click in any town (for WoW: In any place that lets you get rested).
Those spec files can even be shared, just copy the text file into the appropriate directory and you can load the spec in game.
I don't get why WoW has to force people to farm gold and walk to trainers.

Balance sucks to level, because it means that you don't have
Intensity
. IMO, feral is the way to go for
Feral Swiftness
. Otherwise I'd go Resto for the better mana regen.
But it's true, Druids are excellent... for the instant cast
Flight
if nothing else!

High monetary values are a crutch for play content and achievement. It is supposed to "feel" like a larger achievement because of the gold you spent, likewise the time it took you to gather it.

I am leveling as Kitty but I dual spec'd as Resto to do all the instances while leveling up... I found out it is much easier to get into a dungeon that way. I was getting whispers from people asking me if I could heal well before I was dual spec'd to help in instances. So finally, after I got flight form I dual spec'd. Last night I ran my first instance as Resto in The Nexus and we did great - although twice the mage died (stupid squishy mages) and we wiped once because the feeral tank lost aggro on the dragon and I got one shotted (even with a full set of HoT's on me). After that it was only a matter of time before the tank lost his HoT's and then we wiped. But the second time we did it with no losses. Then we got ganked running out of instance by 80's waiting to do the heroic Nexus -lol. Good times.
