I miss Orranis :(
Does he ever get on vent anymore? So if someone were to already have the stuff for D&D, would it cost anything to join them? Cause there's a little gaming shop in the town next to me and they might play it, I know they play Magic and several other games.
Wouldn't mind playing it at some point.
Also evening interest.
Yeah, you can join them. A friend of mine had all the books and the like, so he's the DM. Not every person needs a set of rules.

The past couple of times I've logged on, nobody has been there.
Also, when the hell did "NSFW" start meaning, "Anything that may or may not be construed as even remotely sexual or offensive"?

I'm honestly not sure what will get moderator action. My thought process was "better safe with a NSFW tag than sorry with a ban".

So I just got my Brawler's guild invite, from the BMAH, 3 and a half days from the launch of the feature, for 1400 gold. And it's account wide. I think that we can safely say the people who raged about being forced to pay hundreds of thousands of gold to use a game feature jumped the gun a tad- lol.

Yes and no. I personally think as a player, it is very important to have a copy of the core rules at least, and have references to the commonly used additional rules that may appear in other source books, even if it's just a list of them and not the whole books themselves.
Reasoning - you always want to have at least as good an understanding of the rules as the DM - that way, you know when a) he's screwing you over, and b) how to rort the system and turn the tables your way.

Well not like logic is a strong point among a large majority of players heh.

Is it possible to read them online somewhere? I found a PDF of the 4th edition rules, but it only has 27 pages so I'm not sure if that's it or just the basics.

That's gotta be just the basics. My PDF copy of the 4th ed. DM guide is 224 pages, and the Player's Handbook is 300+. I torrented them, so, if you're willing to do that, it's an option. Otherwise, I'd say Amazon or the Wizards main site.

Didn't think that would be all of it. And with just those 27 pages, there is a lot of stuff to learn.
But once I get in my feet, find a job and maybe some where to live so I can move out of my parents, i'll think about picking that up as a hobby.

If you have the money, or someone that knows the rules/has the books, it's way fun.

Or if you have an iPad or tablet/reader could get 'copies' of the information and just use that to refer to it....

Yeah I could do that, but I don't have one. Like I said though, once I can get situated, some of that will change. Being broke sucks.
I remember the first time I saw DnD, but they weren't calling it that. It was in an episode of Dexter's Lab. Dexter and his friends were playing and his sister wanted to join them.
