Not happening, sorry.

Figured as much. But, a no is better than silence. I'll ask again in another 3 years or so.

I agree with Ashelia on that one, and also with Malgayne. It was also brought up recently in a thread (can't remember which one, possibly the "Off-Topic Regulars" one) - such a thread would simply serve to enhance the notion that the OT/Randomness forum has an elitist heirarchy of 'old boys' that can do no wrong (this has been suggested many times over the years).
I personally wouldn't want the forum going down that path, and I'm glad that Ashelia, and Malgayne before her, don't either.

I would have rather seen an issue with something before locking it. This was locked before there even was an issue. Perhaps I'm putting too much faith in the denzions on off-topic.
Anyway, Administrators and moderators come and go. Maybe in 3 years the leadership will be more inclined to see how it works out.

Even without a 'formal' council, there's already the impression from non-OT Wowheaders that the OT core (think you, Interest, Adamsm, Funden, Patty, etc.) are elitist and 'above the law'. I don't think that we should be encouraging that.

Oh lord. I remember that -.-
Didn't you guys try it on the alternative forum? How'd that work out again?

Then we could always propose a rule that says that you cannot be on the informal council more than once. It could actually be a tool to give new people a chance at feeling important.
This is me thinking outside the box.

I'm in the core? =P And patty actually got a mentioned instead of being ignored all the time heh?
Honestly, when it comes up to me Interest and Funden all in the same space, it's due to post count that we are seen as 'above the law' and elitist....cause you know, having no life is big apparently lol.

The 5 people who wanted their own forum dwindled to 3. Those 3 wanted to play forum games, and that's it. I left at that point.
So, hows your vent chat going? Bustling?

I always thought I was this thing in the Paladin forum, personally. It's kind of fun being better than other people. :x

Not purely post-count - the reports I've seen, at least, in relation to complaints refer specifically to the Off-Topic crowd, not just because you're such mammoth posters.

I think that based on the guidelines proposed in the original thread (that council members should act as moderators in debate threads and assist the actual site mods), everybody should be trying to emulate that behaviour, not just the 2-3 people who are 'elected' at any point in time.
As for a constitution, legislation etc., it very much defeats the purpose when the legislation must always be "Follow the site rules", in the end.

What, you mean, you, me, blademeld, svirve, HSR and Quest? Yes, but we never abused that (much!) :P
In all honesty though, the original plan was to have a separate set of rules for Randomness that would somehow be separate from Wowhead's rules, which was going too far. We never did that in the Paladin forum - we provided guidelines for members, we moderated discussions and guided people back onto the right path, but we never tried to enforce our own rules.(##RESPBREAK##)8##DELIM##Squishalot##DELIM##

They see a correlation.

You can still have fun without imposing a council and legislation on someone else's forum. As we did on the paladin forum, you can still try to
establish community guidelines
and encourage people to stick to them, to create a nicer forumspace.
And as pezz will attest, that was fun.
Anyway, I'm off for the day - see you guys around.(##RESPBREAK##)8##DELIM##Squishalot##DELIM##

Honestly, I don't really know any of the people in off-topic. I mean, I know some things about them, but I don't really know them. Compound that with my awful memory, and I can't really remember which fact goes with which name. Some things are unforgettable, but for the vast majority of the time, I kind of view everyone here as one big homogeneous group, which I try to treat all the same. A newcomer I'm not going to see much differently than a person who has been here for a year or more. For instance Ashalea. If it weren't for her blue text, I would get her confused with Milayeu. If there is elitism, I don't see it. Nor do I consider myself to be more elite than other people. I try not to come across that way, even when I'm trying to help out a complete newcomer. Part of the reason is that I really like newcomers. I want this community to grow. I want more differing of opinions and more debate opponents. I actually find it kind of laughable that some people consider themselves more "important" than other people on wowhead. I don't even think the moderators are above the users, nor the Admins above the moderators. We are all human. You all have a job to do here, but other than that, I don't hold you in some higher regard than the person who showed up 2 minutes ago.

I don't think elitism is the right word. I think the issue is that new people come in and see that there is this familiarity between a lot of us here who have gotten to know each other somewhat through the debate threads and the RB. It means we have inside jokes that newer posters might not get, and that we tend to comment on each others posts more often and more easily, because of the rapport we've built up. I imagine this could make someone who we don't know, and don't have the same rapport with, feel like they're being ignored or discounted, even it's just that they need time to get to know everyone.
It also means that we have a certain amount of reputation here, with each other, for speaking and debating in a certain way, and having certain beliefs that we defend. So, if someone attacks someone else on the forum for something that they didn't or wouldn't say, or because they took offense at something that the rest of us know they didn't mean in the way that person took it, or something like that, we might have the tendency to defend each other, which could look like ganging up to a new person.
