My problem with that scenario is that the students are essentially brought up brainwashed. If you are taught to enforce a bias, you will likely never question that bias. I had several friends in high school who were religious, and they still believed evolution is a valid explanation. As I like to say each time the Science v. Religion topic comes up, Science tries to explain "How?"; Religion tries to explain "Why?".
You can take the Bible as the
literal
* transcribed word of God and still believe in evolution and old Earth because Genesis doesn't cover the how, and the only relation of time is a word written by a man who probably didn't have a concept of time that extended longer than human memory.
*And I'm sorry, but I can't believe the Bible is the literal word of God because the individual books were written by men, translated into various languages by men, and the individual books were assembled into a collection by men
with an agenda
. Yes, it could very well be inspired, but I don't think it could be literal. Also, the Qur'an can be a valid holy book. The Jews, Christians, and Muslims all worship the God of Abraham. The Jews and the Christians have common ground because Christians came from the Jews. The primary difference between the three religions is the choice of primary prophet.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Jews follow the laws of Moses, Christians follow the teachings of Christ (which he claim override the laws of Moses), and Muslims follow laws of Muhammad. As far as I'm concerned, those can be three different interpretations of essentially the same religion. They agree more on some things than some Protestant denominations.

And all of those laws are virtually the same. It's all pretty much: Don't steal, don't kill, don't lie, don't cheat, and only worship this one god.
The only differences, as you noted, are in who stated these "laws" and the god mentioned.
The punishments for the common laws differ a bit, and there are other things like the animal sacrifice in Judaism, or the prayer protocol in Islam.
And yes, I kind of went into a completely different rant in that last half of the post.

I went to the Creation museum in Petersburg, KY (outside Cincinnati), a few years back. I was going to have an open mind and try to learn something or at least enjoy it for what it was, but in the lobby, in two-foot high lettering, they have "God created the earth in seven twenty-four hour days.", which immediately put me on the lookout for things to nitpick, rather than my first plan.
At the empty tomb, they have the two disciples apparently discovering Christ's body missing, not Mary. That's the biggest single nitpick I have with the place. Everything thing else is really just them going "LALALALALALALAICANTHEARYOULALALALALA" to scientific theories or facts.

I guess I'll go "window" shopping for hiking boots rather than sitting here feeling sorry for myself.
I hate days off, but I'd hate life more if I didn't have them.

From the day we arrive on the planet
And blinking, step into the sun
There's more to see than can ever be seen
More to do than can ever be done
There's far too much to take in here
More to find than can ever be found
But the sun rolling high
Through the sapphire sky
Keeps great and small on the endless round
It's the Circle of Life
And it moves us all
Through despair and hope
Through faith and love
Till we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the Circle
The Circle of Life
It's the Circle of Life
And it moves us all
Through despair and hope
Through faith and love
Till we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the Circle
The Circle of Life
