We both know I'm not actually going to look up your phone number, that would be creepy. My point is this: it is possible, via trial and error, to find your number. In this specfic case you have selected (specifically for this reason, I suspect), this trial and error is time consuming and possibly costly. This is not the case for our dictionary scenario, however.
Trial and error, exactly. Which means I have to go through the list and ask you
do you mean this?
How about this?
What about this?
Which means that in fact you have not defined your terms.
All you did was pretend to narrow it down (which in fact you didn't do, seeing as I already own 6 dictionaries).

Which means I have to go through the list and ask you do you mean this? How about this? What about this? No, you don't. You simply go through the list and use definiton that fits the context, as I have said. The "trial and error" is you going through the list and thinking to
yourself
"Does this fit the context?" If the answer is "No", you move on, if it is "Yes", you have your definition. We both know you are easily capable of this.
All you did was pretend to narrow it down (which in fact you didn't do, seeing as I already own 6 dictionaries).I did nothing of the sort. As I have said, it is up to
you
to narrow it down to the definiton that fits the context, not me.

Remember, the context was already the "94%". Yes it narrows it down, but just as much as me telling you general information narrows my number down. It does not give a number nor a definition. Then with the remainder, all we can do is trail and error.
I did nothing of the sort. As I have said, it is up to

But multiple definitions fit the context....
that's the whole problem!
You're running your argument around in circles if that's what you end with.

But multiple definitions fit the context....that's the whole problem!I doubt the validity of this claim. Please be so kind as to post these multiple, conflicting definitions.

And who said any of them are conflicting? In this case we are looking for one definition. Two (or more) definitions that are not the same are conflicting.

Your uber awesome dictionary.com link of power? Have you forgotten already?
In this case we are looking for one definition. Two (or more) definitions that are not the same are conflicting.
Different =/= conflicting. Definitions expose the nuances of a term in describing a concept. A certain concept might include half a dozen "dictionary definitions" of the term, while another might only include one. Again, that's the same reason linking a dictionary does nothing.

Your uber awesome dictionary.com link of power? Have you forgotten already? That's a single "reference", I believe you referred to the plural.

Hahahaha, Deepthought linking something he hasn't even researched...who woulda thunk it?
Dictionary.com searches through multiple dictionaries. You'll notice for
point
it provides 14 dictionaries as references.
Provide some examples, then.
Speaking of my
woman
, that concept I have includes her femininity, her age (being an adult), and her being my sweetheart. That one concept contains three dictionary definitions.

Speaking of my woman, that concept I have includes her femininity, her age (being an adult), and her being my sweetheart. That one concept contains three dictionary definitions. All within the same context in one sentence? I think that would be a stretch, even for you.
#'s 23, 24, 25, 27, 28Are all essentially the same thing. If you used any or all of those definitions (or somewhere inbetween) you would be fine.
#'s 11, 12, 14 See above.

Well, is she female? (The answer is yes)
Is she an adult? (Again the answer is yes)
And is she my sweetheart? (Yes, yes, yes)
So yes, when I use the word woman to refer to the the particular concept of her I mean all three of those things. It doesn't even make sense to call that a "stretch." Reality isn't a stretch, so using a word to cover the whole of the reality isn't a stretch either.
Are all essentially the same thing. If you used any or all of those definitions (or somewhere inbetween) you would be fine.
They
can
be the same thing. That the whole point. But they are separate for the very reason that they aren't necessarily the same thing. You make me come up with an example, yet you already claim the same thing.

1)I did provide an example

, that concept I have includes her femininity, her age (being an adult), and her being my sweetheart. That one concept contains three dictionary definitions.
2)The important part of a thing isn't always the most salient part.
