Why are you playing if is boring?
Its unfortunate that all parts of WoW aren't fun, you have to get through some boring parts to actually get to the fun parts of the game.
There are no pure healing classes, respec dps if you're bored of healing then.
Leveling is tons of fun. Also, grinding for gear is tons of fun. Additionally, farming dailies is tons of fun. I could go on. There's plenty of times you have to do boring things in WoW if you want to fully enjoy other aspects of the game.

I do the daily heroic for triumph badges on my main (druid), usually with peoples from the guild. Ulduar+ geared tank + Ulduar+geared healer = boredom. Rejuv, LB, and nothing to do for the rest of the pack pull. I don't want to heal in moonkin (also Ulduar geared) because i'd have to drink a bit too often and it'd get difficult if another dps takes agro. I don't really like to dps in healing gear/spec because it's just boring too, though i'll do it on bosses or other mobs that live more than 10s.
All in all, i just suck it up since it's only one instance a day.
But letting your group die is something i couldn't fathom doing. Having a dps die because of slower reaction time is one thing (and already bad enough), but the tank shouldn't ever die (if he has reasonable gear) however much bored you are.
That being said, i love healing in raids :p

I completly understand how you feel. I usually run heroics with my tank friend and we completely outgear the instances. My sacred shield takes care of all the damage he takes (I don't even need to heal on trash)
So I devised a little game to spice it up, how Low can you go? Basically you let the tank get as low on health as possible before healing him, as I run with my friend we find it fun, I wouldn't recommend doing it with a pug tank though :) Sadly my friend never gets low so I just /dance the fight away
(I have a Druid alt dual specced resto with heroic/toc HC gear and even though healing a challenge on him I find it the
most boring thing since dailys)

I get the argument that if you're bored you shouldn't play, but on the flipside your healer might need the gear/emblems from that run so you're going or you're not getting the stuff you need. I find this is the case for me at least. My druid needs emblems. I have to get them from heroics. Heroics are boring to heal without our groups geared the way they are.
My shammy has ele offspec and my druid boomkin offspec. Sometimes I swap specs and dps at the same time. Or stay in my resto spec and use my dps gear.
I sometimes ask my tank to chain pull and ignore my mana bar. Dps can always hang back to drink if they need it, and any of us can call a halt if we really need to stop.
When all else fails, I have audio books I can play while running.

My main is a tank, and I've found that you don't really need to keep 100% attention to the game once you've tanked an instance/boss before. Then I made a resto druid and out of habit I began not following along closely. Needless to say after a few wipes I am better at paying attention while healing now. The title of the thread is too true for me personally.

I'm often very busy discussing in guildchat to avoid boredom.
