Man. . .depends what you want.
It doesn.t matter that much what wep you are wielding as long as you know how to use your talents and abilities.
I myself have been a dagger rogue from level 1 to level 60. . .and i agree that its not the best choice :P
A Shadowstep + Ambush can be very deadly especially for clothers. . .but when you do not hit the crit it doesn't seem that much of a chance in fight does it.
Why rogues do not choose daggers , because using swords / other we have more control over the battle . . .it's anoying to loose a PvP just because you didnt crit enough with your mutilate / backstab / ambush.
Also for PvE. . .killing mobs with gouge + backstab/mutilate takes a long time. . .non-dagger items are better for leveling. . .and most important you can hit with sword skills from every angle while with daggers you can hit only from the back (backstab, etc) and it happend to me that i would pull mobs just because i needed to go attack the back of my target (in istances also)

Hood I hasted when I wrote:
1. I meant to say that it's pointless to use SS in PvE or PvP if you are a dagger man, you use backstab for example, but it is hard to get at the back of teh target, like I sayd it happend to me that when I went for the back of the target to use backstab I would atract more mobs who were behind the target.
2. it's not identical damage, using SS+ swords with combat specc people usually deal the same amount of damage per hit, hit after hit and if critical comes along , thats very good. . .but if you use daggers and backstab , than critical hit is a Must. . .and if it happens that you do not score any critical hits during a battle, though luck you lost (kinda sucks ey) . . .and I think thats one of the reasons pleople do not choose daggers and go for combat build.

for the replying at the first, I wanna say that every website depends on the writer's idea' so don't ur entire gameplay for it.
this depends on Multiple cases. u must choose your play style PvE or PVP
we To consider chose PvE.
your advantage in the sword is the much bigger damage so much bigger ability damage so much bigger crit and everything else with using the sword in the main hand. and u have the (sword specialization) so have 5% chance to have an extra attack.
your advantage in dagger (improved backstab) & (opportunity) & (dagger specialization) this 2 talent do a great job with the backstab.
:: the difference here is your backtabs take 60 energy but your sinister take 45 you use the ability in dagger mode fewer that sword mode. consider that u have 2 great talent in the assassination tab (ruthlessness) & (relentless strikes) so u must use more finishing move to active this talent more and more In this regard with sword and sinister strike u can active this 2 talent more time. just think about every talent every angle on your ability everything. both dagger and sword have an advantage for their own but use and pick up talent better for the situation.
i prefer to take talent in the assassination tab on to vigor and take combat tab on to dual wield specialization.
Good luck with your choice
