Considering rolling tank, but which class?

Hi,
All my time in World of Warcraft, I've played DPS-only classes, my first level 60 character was a Troll Rogue, after a while it became my level 70 main character and then I stopped playing for a while, then I started up again and started with a Gnome Mage, which after a very long and challenging road finally became level 70, then I stopped playing again because of much work and other important stuff getting prioritized in my life and after the release of Wrath of the Lich King I started on my journey to level 80, now my Mage is level 80 and I'm doing random heroics, daily heroic and little raiding, I do what my spare time lets me do.
Playing Mage is somewhat different from playing a Rogue, there is some differences between ranged DPS and melee DPS, even though it's all about doing most damage, fastest possible.
But now I'm starting to get a bit bored of it all, main reason being that dedicated DPS classes aren't having that last edged they had in vanilla, these days basicly every single class can do some decent DPS, everything from Priest to Mage can get their DPS going, so I don't feel that important any more, of course I'm wanted because of buffs, food / drink, polly and portals, and we do have some nice AoE's the few times that's needed. But the fact is that Blizzard has made every single class able to DPS, so dedicated DPS classes like Mage and Rogue aren't that enjoyable any more when you can watch classes like Druids can switch from tanking, to healing to DPS, and still be on pair with my DPS rating, no matter the fact that I'm a class that is all about DPS, and I have no option for doing anything else than DPS, tanking Mage? I don't think so.. Healing? We can't heal?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not here to whine about the importance of the dedicated DPS classes, and what role we have these days compared to vanilla, I'm just describing why I find my Mage / DPS role not that fun any more.
To make the long story short, DPS players are EVERYWHERE.. Being a DPS-only class barley makes any sense any more. I have a bit hard time finding groups, as a rather casual player, having just a few spare hours every week for playing, no epic achievements I often have to a hard time finding PuGs because there simply is rarely any demand for DPS, every one wants healers and tankers, not DPS.
So now I want a change, and that's why I'm considering levelling a new character that isn't DPS-only.
But what class should I roll? I have a REALLY, REALLY hard time deciding whatever class I want to roll, that's why I need some advise!
I don't really see myself in a healing role, that's never been my cup of tea in any game, so I might want to go tanking, at least to see how I find it, and on my server there seems to be a lack of tankers,so why not give it a try?
There is a few possible classes I can roll, everything from Warrior, Paladin, Druid or Death Knight?
I consider both Paladin and Druid to be the safest choices, considering they both can do everything from tanking, healing to DPS? A Warrior can go both tanking and DPS, but not heal, and is mainly about tanking? Same goes for Death Knight? There is no healing, mostly DPS and some possibilities for tanking?
Which class would you recommend me to go for?

Death Knight's are some of the best tanks i've ever seen. Just because they don't use shields or shapeshift doesn't mean they suck, (not implying that you said that, just saying that to the other people)
Anyways, i have had best tanking experience with warriors, my favorite raid tanks were druids. Best of both imho are Paladins, cause they are simply cool. But warriors are fun too. I hated leveling my druid from early on, and don't make a DK tank cause they start from fifty-five. If you do make a DK tank make absolutely sure you know how to play them, so you don't look like an idiot.
Edit: Spelling

Paladins are the best tank of the moment right now, but keep switching places to second/third with Death Knights going before them, then being nerfed into oblivion, but if you want stability Druids are a constant second place.

Try DK tanking first since they start at 55 and if you dont like DK tanking then i recommend Paladin tanking since Its very simple and effective.

Roll a Paladin.
Fast leveling, can tank, heal(very well IMO) or DPS.
I rolled a Druid because they can do it all, but I wish I rolled a Paladin. They are much more epic.

It sounds like for you, Warrior or Deathknight might be the best fit.
You probably get the least flexibility for
your
needs out of Paladin, despite the fact that Pallies are awesome. Druids can melee dps or tank on one tree, and ranged dps on another. Warriors have 2 dps trees. And DKs can Blood or Frost tank pretty well.
Unless, that is, you might want a chance to dabble in healing and see if eventually you might want to do that some. In which case Druid and Paladin offer you that without forcing you to reroll or commit! And in this case, again, Druid's excellent flexibility is a strong point.
But since you say you have no interest in healing, Warrior or Deathknight. Deathknight has some decent self-healing capabilities and enters the world at large at 58, and is the best bet if you want to get to 80 quickly and tank WoTLK content.
Just make sure to tank as you level too!

Pallies are survivable as all-get-out while leveling. I currently own a 47 herbalist ret pally myself, and only when I pull too many mobs or underestimate an elite do I die. I started a druid too but found the leveling too slow at the lower levels.

I don't think it gets fast 'til BC content... Of course, that may be because I leveled Balance from level 1, but still, it was slow.

Druids are SO much better than paladins imo. They are better healers, can be better tanks and also be better dps. They are also pretty awsome in PvP if you ever consider it. Druids are the ultimate shiz!

If I would reroll on a new server I would go druid (second place paladin) and I will tell you why. If you wanna tank then druids are really easy to gear. As plate-tank you always have to keep an eye on your defcap (not in catalysm). As druidtank you can just do a couple of WGS, do some battlegrounds and get some awsome pvp gear wich is very very good for druid tanks. I got 4-5 pvp-pieces and got 52k hp raidbuffed now.
Druids also can do all four roles in the game, caster, melee, tank and healer. And they do them well. Very good tanks, very very nice melee dps, very good dps as moonkin and very very good healers in Tree.
If they changes to Nourish goes live then druids will not only do very good raidhealing but also very very good tank healers, almost at paladins level.
However paladins ain't that bad either. Tankadins are very fun and really easy to tank with. Retadins do very nice dmg and are fun in pvp (not as fun as they used to though! ;-) ) and holy paladins are the best tank healers (with disc priests) in game. A big plus for paladin vs druids is that you can see a paladins armor and it mostly look very cool. As you spend a lot of time in different shapes as druids you cant see your armor while fighting and thats sad.
If you still consider death knight or warrior I can tell you that I have tanked with death knight and they used to be very nice but lately I have been feeling squishy and not being able to hold aggro equally good as I used to. My warrior isn't 80 yet but they are ok tanks imo. However they look very very cool in full plate gear! =) Death knight dps is very very good and its easy to do well.
I would suggest you roll a druid with mining/JC if you wanna tank or if u got a mining 450, go enchanting/JC for best enchants!
Have fun!

Based on my own experience, because I've played all forms of tanks, even if for a short time each:
Druid: Can be little tricky, they can do a lot of damage with there sweap and hold agro well enough, though I often ended up losing agro to high dps.
Paladin: similar sort of thing, they have some nice spells for damage reduction, but I couldn't get use to the mana system.
Death knights (only tried for a short time): Sort of similar to paly tanks in there self healing, but again I've lost agro to some powerful dps.
Warrior: My best experience in tanking, with the spells they have they can aoe agro and hold it quite well, I've not lost agro with a warrior, with the one downside its the only tank class without a heal ability on it.
