Personally, I think frost is the spec that new mages need the most help with. Arcane and Fire are arguably very one-dimensional specs and their strategies are very straightforward. Get the offensive initiative and put them on the defensive so they can't take advantage of your lack of defenses.
Surely a guide for all three specs in pvp wouldn't hurt, but I personally think Achloryn's thread the way it is now is already incredibly long. I'd propose making a new series of topics instead, that are dedicated to the different aspects of mage pvp (since I think each facet of the subject is complex enough to warrant it's own thread). Perhaps one dedicated to talent analysis of every spec, one for frost pvp dueling/arena strategies/tips and hints, another for fire pvp, and then finally arcane pvp.
That's a lot to write and maintain though, but it'd be much less convoluted than Achloryn's massive thread attempting to encompass every aspect of mage pvp I think. I know you've seen moderate success as a fire mage in arenas zolikk, you might be the most qualified person to write a pvp guide for fire mages.
I'm of the opinion that anyone who can smack their foreheads on a keyboard is qualified to write up an arcane pvp thread though.

i wouldn't have a problem with that.. I know my pvp guide is a bit of convoluted, regardless of how... user friendly I try to make it... it's just a lot of bleeping information.
I didn't intentionally neglect fire or arcane pvp when i wrote my guide. I wrote it mainly as frost because that's how most mages pvp. I have to admit i've become a bit disheartened with mage pvp at the moment (especially since one of my arena partners is taking an indefinite break from WoW), and it's hard for me to want to keep playing my mage overall. Perhaps this will change again when cataclysm comes out, I dunno at this point.
Don't misunderstand.. I am not forsaking my mage, the pvp guide, or this forum.. I just feel like a break from the mage is what I need at the time to give me a bit of perspective. Right now, I am having far too much fun leveling my warlock.... -insert noises of treachery here-

How about killing a hunter as arcane? Obiously the lack of arcane defenses and the fact that hunters are kiters themeselves make them almost unkillable (at least for me).
hunters are a pain to kill, regardless of your spec. (in my experience anyway.. i hate hunters)
Your best bet with any hunter is just to stay on top of them, and keep slow's uptime to a max. try to save your blink for when they disengage, and if they're BM, your best bet is to ice block out the beastial wrath and nova their pet far away from you. (even without bestial wrath, they still do far more damage than they're worth).

There is far more harder classe's than hunters.
Especially if ur arcane. You got more burst than him so no matter what he wont win the damage war.
If ur frost just stay on top of him, there is no way he gonna survive trough a Fbolt+IL+IL in a deep freeze. Train him down and his @#$%ed.
If his BM well wait his beast withion out, and it's even easier now when we got the invis buff.

i never said that hunters were the hardest class.. but i do believe they are one of the toughest fights for us. You're right though, they are easier as arcane, but it has nothing to do with having more burst than him (cause if you
really
think we do, you've been fighting some shicrappy hunters). Slow is a godly spell against hunters. They can wing clip you, they can frost trap you, but it doesn't matter, if you keep slow on them, they don't run any faster than you do.
also, any hunter worth a flip in 1v1 will have a hunter's mark on you, which will let them still see you when you pop invis.. boom, just wasted a cooldown. Can't get rid of hunter's mark, just have to let it fade off.
also.. most hunters aren't gonna sit there and let you just get off an FB/ILx2 combo. it requires a lot of fancy footwork on your part (and a lucky deep freeze, but as this is geared towards arcane, that's irrelevant)
