without being so technical about the game? I just wonder and at times worry because threads here and elsewhere get so technical somethings with percentages and stats and mathematical equations and theories that are all over my head by a mile, I just wonder if I can be a great player without immersing myself so deeply in to a game. I mean I firstly play for fun but I want to be good at it too.

you can be a good player, the math is for god-hand wannabes or end-game workers

Yah the level of immersion isn't so important as your situational awareness is at being a good player. Being mindful of what your team is doing and a basic understanding of game mechanics, stat distribution, and just a having a good attitude can take you a long way. But then again I'm just a nubcake myself so take anything I say with a grain of salt.

Yes, you can, half the time all the theory and math doesn't work in real situations, like a lot of things, you just need common sense. The best advice I can give you is to find a good guild with an active Ventrilo/Teamspeak server, listen, learn, and have fun.
I'm sure you're not the type, but I'm not a fan of: "I'm just having fun" or "It's just a game"
It's a game, and it's designed to be fun, but I have fun when I'm with good players and things run fast and smooth and we don't die (Most of the time dying is not fun)
And if you go afk, please tell the group :)
