Well, either way, the information he cited from EJ was correct.

Yes, the numbers were correct if you round. And even Aadra was wrong. I was a bit grumpy that day :P
The biggest reason I responded had more to do with him missing the point of Aadra's post in that hitting the hard cap was possible without a trinket but only due to the gear releases in this patch.
Edit: looking back at it from a caffeinated standpoint I'm not sure where I saw it :(

Now, the real question. After the feral nerfs, would it be a good idea to stack arp on PvP gear to make up for the near 20% nerf to our damage output?
I just added it up, I'ld have 266 base ArP(316 if I get furious chest and swap out my conq helm) if I gemmed for ArP and meta only, and have Grim Toll procs. Would this be better than the 200 agility I'ld lose?

The nice benefit of Agility over ArP is that you get a lot more damage out of Rip crits. Considering you would spend a lot less time on your target in PvP, I'd question whether Agility wouldn't be better than ArP since ArP focuses on buffing direct damage whereas Agility raises your overall damage and increases your crit chance.
I just replaced all of my ArP gems with epic ones, last night, and filled the rest with blue Agility gems. I gained a TON of agility as I was over the soft cap before and was just waiting on regemming. Switching the ArP gems to epic and gaining the Vezax polearm freed me up to have 6 ArP gems and 6 Agi gems + one prismatic (for meta). My crit went up several percentages from those gear changes.
Hooray, I'm more or less at a gear level indiscernable from BiS and we're basically done with T8. Now I get to start all over.
/sigh

LOL! Well, to be fair, in my pvp gear, with blue quality agil gems, I'm sitting at almost 51% crit self buffed(1271 base agil with skinning). If I drop, 200 agility, I'm going to be out what, 2.3% crit? and 7100 self buffed ap will put me at around 6900 ap, which is a 3% drop in AP.
So, lets say, 3% crit rating, 3% AP for around 17-22% passive arp(not sure if that's right, and I pulled the arp I already have from my ring off of that, from gems, 220 arp, add 50 for helm.)? If I do go with arp, I'll probably go all out, and swap my head for conq, replace my chest with furious, and put a hit rating amulet on to make up for the loss, which would be another 1% crit rating. I'ld have over 25% passive arp, and with grim toll procing, pushing close to 75% in PvP gear.
My bleeds don't seem dangerous atm. They just add to the headache. My direct damage seems to be the bread winner, and I'm probably going to respec to 3 points in PI, and 1 point in PotP to buff my crit damage another 3%.
This is what makes it so tough. I don't think agility has the bonus over arp anymore, and I'll still have nearly 1100 agility on gear, If I get the idol from dailies, I'll have the proc making up the agility loss as well instead of using the shred idol.
Ugh.... lol.
I think I need to grind my mining on my paladin so I can make all my gems for.....5 different sets of gear..... >.<
I'm thinking more along the lines of, ArP might be the difference in killing DK's or not.

I'll be interested to hear how it turns out whichever way you go with this.

Ya, me too. I'll update after next week. I'm grinding my mining on my pally so I can grind all my epic gems, since it'ld be dumb to regem twice. I think I'm going to go with tier helm, badge neck with arp on it, and hit rating cloak.
From the looks of the gear(16+ agility bump per piece of S7 gear and a boat load of stam as well), I think they are heading in this direction already.
With luck, my crit shreds will be back up to par, and I'll be tearing butt cheeks off 2 at a time. I'll be SS'ing my stat differences when I swap gems.

Update- I've got my passive ARP up to almost 20%, and there is definitely an improvement, but I'm playing around in BG's atm, so that doesn't really say much. The geared frost DK's definitely go down a lot faster now tho.
I'll have much more arp after I make it home and swap some pieces around, and hopefully finish gemming(at least blue quality arp in every slot), so I'll give you an update later.

Ok, so in PvP gear, I can hold 306 armor pen and 46.92% crit rating self buffed with 788 resil. Or, I can drop my neck for more armor pen and agil, and push 352 armor pen with 47.59% crit with 746 resil. Not bad.
I've been dropping people much faster with the armor pen, so I like it so far. The down fall is I switched to zero points in PotP to get some extra nuke power. We'll see how it goes in arena next season. I'm going to have to play extra aggressive.

I can say, also, anecdotally, that being able to proc 100% armor penetration in my PvE gear makes my abilities hit VERY hard in BG play. I try to count on my pocket healer to save me from not having any PvP gear at all (outside of my trinket). What's especially fun is when I attack someone who has very little resilience and it only takes a couple of shred crits to nearly kill them.
Hopefully I will be able to change my secondary spec from PvE bear to PvP cat and will gain some survivability without enduring the tradeoffs I have to endure to use the PvE bear spec while attempting to DPS.
I wanna hear how it goes as you start up next arena season. You could keep bumping this thread or start a new one or something.

Ya, we're gonna start recording our PvP sessions, so it should be fun showing you guys how we can basically demolish some teams with a little skill and timed interupts. Having the new ability of instant nature spells will be amazing in 2's. That will probably change my game play a lot.
2's will be brutal as my healer will now have to go holy....
I've been trying to watch my game play a lot, and it seems that I've been using maim a lot more now, but this is still BG play, which isn't anywhere close to the same as arena.
