For those out of the loop, I'll give a basic overview:
Fire; 265,000 San Diegans evacuated from their homes; 100,00 acres burned; 13 active wildfires; Humidity down in single-digits; Wind speeds have reached 80mph(category 2 hurricanes are at this speed).
I remember there were a handful of people from SD and nearby in the location thread, if any of you are trolling forums(like there's anything else to do, other than watch Fox), how are you holding up? (Myself, I've been evacuated.. then evacuated from that evacuation 4 hours later)

At the moment, I'm at an incredibly low-threat area(Fires are sweeping northeast through the county, we're at a naval base on the coast, pretty far south)
Right now the best thing to do is just find a way to pass the time, no amount of worrying about my home/area will make it better, so there's no point to stress out. I've got a laptop, but it's not mine so I can't just hop on WOW... ...so I go on the wowhead forums why not.

Good luck and God Bless. I'm in Santa Monica, and we're getting fallout from the Malibu fire right now.

I'm from San Diego. Living in Linda Vista ATM, so we're safe. But its eerie seeing the smoke on all sides.
I work in downtown, in the SD National Bank building, and I can look across the bay at Point Loma. I grew up there, and I'm used to seeing it enshrouded in fog. Not ash. Then, as I head back home, I look at Mt. Soledad, where one of my best friends used to live, and its creepy seeing the top half covered in smoke. My wife works there now (like 3 blocks from my friends old house), and actually got a call today telling her not to show up at work. The people she works for took in about 10 people that were evacuated, and so their house is packed.
My dad and stepmom live north, near Rancho Bernardo, and they were one of the first evacuated on Sunday. I didn't even know until late he called me yesterday and told me. They hope that they can go back today, assuming their house is still there.
And then another good friend of mine called me from Otay Ranch, where he lives and works, asking me if he could stay at my wife and I's place that night. With the fire situation there, he just didn't feel comfortable at home, and I can't say that I blame him. So we stayed up late, goofed off. Watched TV. Ate. Drank. Played Halo 3 (VIP on Valhalla? Awesome). We just generally had a good time, and for those few hours, we were able to forget that a quarter of San Diego's populace was displaced.
Its all a very sobering experience, in my opinion.

That's good that you were able to sit back, relax, and temporarily forget about the situation.
I'm watching the news right now(Fox) and some greyhair guy is saying that in RB you should be able to find out whether or not your house has burnt down, may want to remind your father/stepmother about that.
When I got to pt loma yesterday, looking over to where the fires were, it really looked just like it was foggy. We joked saying that the people here wouldn't even realize that there's a fire going on, just "Man... it's really foggy out there.... ....And a lotta tourists today....."
While the fire isn't necessarily getting contained fully, it's getting marginally better. Winds dying down, we've got more men in the air dropping water/retardant. Santa Anas should die down late today, maybe tomorrow.. I've gotten confirmations a few different ways that my neighborhood(and, thus house) is alright.
edit: We've got another guy here on the press conference saying that he has counted 75 homes burnt in RB, and that you can check online if your house is burnt.. the list will be posted on sandiego.gov, at 2pm by Councilman(?) Meinshine.

I'm currently in San Diego. I go to the University of San Diego, but I'm from Santa Barbara county originally.
The fires have been crazy, but luckily my residence as well as my school are both well out of harms way. However, the city wants to keep as many people off the road as possible, so my school is cooperating by closing down campus until Monday morning last I checked.
Yeah. Yesterday afternoon there was a message on one of those news tickers on Fox that said pretty much "All schools are closed".. but they dragged it out like "all public, private, parochial, charter, charm, obedience, preschool, driving, technical, vocational schools are closed for the week"
They're urging citizens not to use cellphones as well, to not bog up the cell towers.
There are a lot of people saying that their offices are closed as well. I really can't think of anyone who is/works in a danger area would even fathom going to work at the time, but I suppose there are some really dedicated people who need something like this to stop them..
At the time.. the fires aren't really contained yet, but we finally have VERY low winds, and they were just showing some live clips of 1 heli after another doing water drops on a fire area. They're doing their best to focus fire(I couldn't resist...) certain parts of the fire.
We heard that there were 280 homes burned in our old area(RB) and even though we haven't lived there for 4 years, it still made our hearts drop.
My own part of my town(Ramona) is safe, but there is a power crisis(SDGE is having troubles. I suppose this is one of the times people really regret letting a monopoly work in SD...) and it's pretty hot up there, and incredibly ashy.. The water district is somehow burned as well so most of the town has no water, but out where I live we've got well water.
Plus all 3 of the ways up to Ramona are closed.

Well, I live in Sweden, so I'm hardly in the danger zone, but best of luck to you all. Hope you don't lose anything valueable such as your house or, worse, your life. Good Luck!

Just got an update. Apparently the San Diego fires are now a "federal disaster," and we qualify for federal aid to supplement local recovery efforts.

Santiago fire really bothers me.. It was not only arson, but they say there were 3 points of ignition.
I really wouldn't expect schools not to be closed down even out there. There's just horrible air conditions. I've got asthma and luckily I really haven't had much for troubles here.
Minor update for those of you elsewhere.. Bush is about to land over here in San Diego..
Wind speeds are WAY down(It's pretty much 0's across the board, except for an 8 and a 6) which is a great help. Dew point levels are up in their 30s at least, up from 18 maximum.
I was hoping to go back home today, but no dice there. I live off of well water(Rather than city water) but the city water from my town is no longer running, and firefighters supposedly want to play it safe in case of another outbreak.
And now for the most part on the news channel, they're comparing this to Katrina and how much better we are.
