Faster Leveler: Shaman or Hunter?

I have always thought Hunters were generally considered the fastest levelers, but many have recently told me that Enhancement Shamans are considerably faster. Any comments?

I would say Hunter, by far.
They literally have no downtime due to their pet.
Plus, versatility of pets also helps you pick different pets for different jobs.
Shamans are not as fast until level 40, then they woop arse like Hunters :)

Yeah hunters have no downtime what so ever due to Viper and their pet taking most of the damage,
Can't say much about Enhancement shamans,
haven't really played him since TBC came out.

Shaman levelling is hugely easier what with water shield now at level 20, but still, hunters by far (at least until level 40).

hunters are less frustrating at 80. that is. unless you like dying 30+ times in one bg

Hunter levels quickly but, as some said, it can become boring. Especially if you're used to a class that requires a lot of input. Assuming there's a class in WOW that does.

Druid is.
Druid is NOT. Soooooooooooo much drinking before you get bear form, and even after Bear you still have to heal yourself (which requires drinking every X pulls).
To put it bluntly, no mana using class (other than Ret Pallies) will have fast leveling pre-level 40. After 40, mana classes can pick it up a bit but will still (inevitably) have to stop and drink eventually. The only exception might be Drain Tanking Warlocks, but they still don't gain the capability to do that efficiently until their mid-30s.
IMO, fastest classes would be Hunter and Ret pally. Pre-level 40, Shamans still have to drink every other pull. It hurts.

I would have to disagree. I'm currently leveling a shaman and I rarely have to drink for water.
Water Shield
Pretty much takes care of my mana needs.
But yes hunters would level faster I think.
