I was in naxx25 today with my resto druid, a guild run.
First I won

at Maexxna, which was quite an improvement over my previous shoulders, so I was a happy camper.
Later at Loatheb I won
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=40639
which translated into
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=40465
after the run.
Actually I won it over 9 death knights, 3 other druids and a mage, talk about bad odds for a druid with everyone and his sister playing a death knight.
However, the difference between the two shoulders are so little I actually wish I'd passed and let one of the guildies get the token, but I didn't know that until I was in the shop i Dalaran. The Valorous Dreamwalkers is a tiny bit better with the right gem, but still, the token might have gotten a better use for someone else..
I personally think it would be brilliant if it were possible to see what the token "translates" into when one did a mouse-over. Rogues would be shown their single choice. Same with mages. DK's would be shown both the tank and dps version of the shoulders and druids would be shown the balance, feral and resto version when mouse-over. That way you would be able to judge on the spot whether to need or pass.
Does anyone know of an addon that does something clever like that?

AtlasLoot. Sort of.

AtlasLoot
lets you look at loot from tier sets as well as raids and dungeons.

The Dreamwalker shoulder will be better in the long run though, with the set bonuses and such.
But yeah, Atlas Loot is prolly the best option.

Even though AtlastLoot and Wowhead could diminish the harm done this way, they don't completely negate the fact that the system is a little clumsy in this department. I agree, you should be able to see the actual Tier item somehow (or all 2-3, if you have several sets).
Of course, kind of a roundabout solution could have been to sell the shoulders back to the vendor, to get your token back, and then submit a ticket explaining what happened...
