You need Ruin, Bane, and Improved Shadow Bolt in Affliction builds. They are essentials.

Your edit is confusing, I am not sure if you are somehow offering a different build than what Kangi critique'd, but:
You absolutely must spend at least 15 points in Destruction to be raid viable. There are no alternatives, and no negotiations.

Demonic Aegis does not come anywhere close to the increase of Ruin.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but raiding as aff. is all about keeping the dots up and use shadowbolt as a filler. Ruin does nothing for dots as they are not considered destruction spells. With the recent change that you can't use immolate and unstable affliction on the same target, it leaves shadowbolt as the only spell used by aff. locks that benefits from ruin.
Demonic Aegis boosts all your spells. Doesn't it benefit more to have stronger dots than getting a bit extra on those occasions where your filler spell crits?
I haven't crunched the numbers, I must admit, but I'll be looking at my Recount next time to see just how big or small an impact shadowbolt crits have on my overall damage output.

your details aren't wrong but your conclusions are.
we have crunched the numbers and ruin really can't be skipped. this has never been truer than after the recent patch which pushed SB damage even further up the table for affliction locks.
demo aegis sounds nice but it's not worth dropping real talents for and there's too many wasted talents needed to get there.
