hm.. .omen.. and ehm.. maybe something to mark if you dont use keybindings for it..
other than that i only use event alert... but thats cuz i use it in fury..
another "nice to have" is archud2 so you see your health bar around your char.. but yeah.. no where near neccessary..

Only tanking mod you need is omen. And you should use the key bindings for marks and not rely on a mod, it's built it. You can mark 3 targets in 3-5 seconds.

it's true that you don't actually NEED any addons for tanking; however, i have found the following to be quite useful:
quartz - so i can see enemy cast bars easily, as well as my debuffs on the boss
pitbull - so i can center my userframe and my target's userframe (and TofT) where i can easily see them
elkbuffbars - let's me put the buffs where i want them and filter out the ones i don't care about
bartender - definitely a luxury mod, but i do like being able to put my buttons into groups that make sense to me

I use YurrCombatlog for a nice and clean combatlog, it's pretty nice, i often uses it to see what killed me, like how many hits i took in how many sec, and did i receive heals... etc etc

IG eq manager is by all means inferior to Outfitter. I wont even say what Outfitter can what the ig cant, ill just say its like comparing vanilla epic to wotlk epic. Both are purple.
As for addons in general.
Xpearl is great and dont need lot of customising.
Power auras are great addition to that but need some cutomising.
Sct and sct_damage need some customising as well.
I also have raid marking bound to my keyboard (F5-F12)
