Some people play the AH, some people go with gathering professions. I am in the latter group. Either way, I recommend that you stay away from purchasing items from the AH, sell whatever items you get. resist the temptation to buy ANYTHING from the auction house.
Yes, it will take you some time, but in my personal opinon, it will surely pay off.

1. Do not spend unnecessarily. This means buying items off the AH, vendor whites, etc. If you want to take it a step further, do not buy a mount or the training at level 30. You have ghost wolf, make use of it. In addition, do not train EVERY skill you can obtain. Only train the ones you will be using frequently.
2. Pick the right professions. Herbalism and mining, at least on my server, are huge at the moment. Demand for low level ore and herbs are at a high and will sell really well for how easy they are to obtain. Research the lower level herbs and ore (copper, tin, peacebloom, etc) and see which makes the most money, purchase the training and go. Enchanting is another very good way to make money as mats also sell for quite a sum. If you want to save a few extra copper/silver, do not buy any enchanting recipes from the trainer. You probably won't be enchanting that much anyway and all you really need is the ability to DE, which is gained upon learning the skill. As a note, check the prices of low level leathers before picking up skinning. On my server, and on several others that I have been on, stacks of light leather sell for less than 45s. Decent for how easy it is to obtain but ore and herbs sell for much more and are only a faction harder to find.
3. Sell EVERYTHING. Do not destroy or neglect to loot anything a monster drops. It will sell for something to someone. Sell everything to either a vendor or, in some cases, on the AH.
4. Do not give gold to anyone for any reason under any circumstances ever UNLESS they did something for you that would require a tip or some other form of payment. This should not be a problem because you should not be paying for anything from any player or vendor. Do not buy enchants from another person, do not buy crafted items from anyone. Just tunnel vision your way to profit.
5. Play the AH. This includes, but is not limited to, buying items that you see being sold for a low price (stacks of copper ore for less than 5g? buy it and save it until prices skyrocket). Get Auctioneer or some other helpful mod to help determine whether or not items are being sold for a good price. Also check to see the price of low level greens (that you able to DE if you go that route) and how they compare to the materials they will DE into. If they are lower, buy them and resell them. You have to spend money to make money, remember this because it should be your motto.
6. Quests. They don't give a super large amount of money at lower levels, but every little bit counts. Do them and keep the gold. If they offer items, you'll get more money if you pick up enchanting, otherwise sell the items for more cash.

ty everyone, nice tips so far... but, i think that i may go back to my other lvl 11 character because of a personal preference, which is a mage, so i wont have ghost wolf... maybe i could change it to 1045g by lvl 50.
Regardless, you still don't
need
the mount immediately at level 30. It is nice to have as it makes things go a lot faster, but if you are trying to save money then I would suggest holding off on it.
Also, since you are changing classes, I would suggest not buying dual spec until you are level 80 and can justify it a bit more.

Spending a little gold on a mount at 30 is called an investment. It will save you so much time travelling, time you can use to make more money.
Most of your money will be made in one of the capitals via the AH or random vendors. Everything you need (mailbox, ah, bank) is close to each other and you only stand to lose time by mounting to go from A to B. Investing in a mount is a good idea only if you have a gathering profession like Herbalism or Mining as it will reduce the time needed to travel between one ore node or herb to the next.
Also note that I already covered the fact that buying a mount at 30 will save you time and, in my initial post, considered this a completely optional piece of advice for saving money.
