Was the druid swipe ever a cone attack? im not sure about the bear swipe either, however with a tenacity pet and the 20% more aggro from growl not being BM while leveling should be just fine unless you have very good gear for your level.
Ive leveled with MM before Wotlk (therefore without pet talents) and had very little problems either (leveled with a boar), as for all the melee attacks in 1 button its actually not a bad idea, just have to make sure wingclip gets put down first in the list just incase your low on mana in pvp, its not hard to make that kind of macro however, it would probably work like this i think:
/Cast Wingclip
/Cast Mongoose bite
/Cast Raptor strike
you would have to click it 3 times but atleast its only 1 button instead of 3
