Priest playing tips?
Return to board index
I'm new at Arenas. I'm a hardcore PvE'er, clearing Ulduar at evenings, and other banter with guildies.
I recently decided to explore PvP with my Priest, and started some 2v2 Arenas in some skirmishes.
I have near full PvP gear, and resilience is close to 800. It's not good enough some would say, but I've been told, it should help, especially with me being a damn noob.
Thing is, I can't survive most fights, simply because I don't have experience to counter other players.
Could someone give me tips on how to play PvP? I know playing more will help, but it doesn't hurt for a few vets to give me some info on it.
Things like, absolute essentials, and how to counter, when to use PvP trinkets, and such.
I learned that trinking out of a sap is useless, cos the rogue just resaps you...
Things like that would be appreciated. Thanks!
Could you be more specific? What Spec are you? what is your partner? In Arenas, you most of the time don't count 1v1. 1v1 situations happen but are rare. It is a combination of two people that gives the wins.
I will state some tips for Discipline, the spec i play.
Composition on team: Pretty much anything you like, Disc is very versatile. Rogue/DPriest are at the moment one of the strongest combos. Feral Druids also work very well. I myself play with a warrior, and tough it is not as strong as a DPriest/Rogue combo, it works out well.
Typical PvP strats:
First of all - A Priest is like... VERY dependant on his magical Buffs. I would say that no other class relies as heavily on buffs (and Debuffs) as we do. Which is to say - Get Silent Resolve. This is valid for whichever spec you take - not only Discipline.
Thus sais, ALWAYS make sure your major buffs are up. Inner fire gone against a meleer can mean your death prematurely, when you could've lasted a lot longer, being a top priority spell. Renew and Power Word: Shield are also very important to keep up as long as possible.
Do NOT try to conserve mana if you die a lot. Your opponent WILL unleash cooldowns on you. If you don't counter with cooldowns, you lose, period. Pain Supression, Power Infusion, Inner Focus, Shadowfiend, Hymn of Hope. When the situation calls for it use them.
Against your worst enemy - dispel-heavy classes - have your tree designed to protect your buffs. Like 1/3 Blessed Resilience or Inspiration on the Holy Tree.
Oh, and Glyph for Pain Supression. I cannot count the number of times it saved me.
Ability to predict and keeping a mental track on your opponent's cooldowns is crucial. Duelling outside Orgrimmar is a nice way to learn. Learn more about typical offensive or defensive combos.
This are some tips i remember now - there are a lot more. Be a bit more specific, and we shall be more specific answering :). Hope you found something useful here.
