it's because you're clipping the duration of the last one. stop doing that.
this is the same problem that you often see people refer to with the in game message "a more powerful spell is already on that target". it means that you previously cast a spell while you had a buff on you (trinket, DP, LT glyph, etc.) and then you cast the spell again before that last one has worn off. the game won't overwrite a stronger version so you get that message.
in the case of corruption it prevent you casting the spell (or using the GCD) but in the case of immolate it allows the casting of the DD portion and prevents the application of the DoT.
-clipping is bad.
-don't clip.
-end of
this
problem.
-boost to overall dps.

Here's a question that just came to mind...
Haunt refreshes corruption, so if corruption is originally cast with all your trinkets up, etc., would haunt refresh that much stronger version of corruption, or would it refresh it to whatever your SP is at the moment it's refreshed?

I highly doubt it simply because if it would refresh the "buffed" corruption, then every time you would cast haunt your corruption would be extra powerful and since corruption should be up the entire fight and never needed to be re-cast, that would mean your corruption would be buffed and doing extra damage for the entire fight.
Yes, I understand what would happen if it kept refreshing the buffed corruption; wondering if anyone has experience in searching into it? I would but currently at work~

it doesn't maintain the buffs from corruption's first application.

Gotcha there, but when haunt lands and refreshes corruption, does it take your current SP into effect or does it go with your default SP?
If that's the case, wouldn't it be possibly beneficial to redo corruption when your trinkets are up along with anything else? I'm thinking no still, but what if you have trinkets/buffs that add up to +1500 sp?

This makes me think of something. I rarely have it happen, only when I'm in an instance, really.
Whenever I'm DoT'ing up something, I usually hit Corruption first, then by the time I've got all the othher DoTs up, it's time to refresh the corruption. BUT, when I try to cast Unstable Affliction on something, it tells me a more powerful spell is already active.
Does anyone know why? Is Corruption messing with it? Is it a proc?

umm... did you read this thread?
Why, yes I did. But as far as my situation goes, I don't see it being affected by what's been covered thus far. They're too completely different spells, they never did this before.

I don't think you realize Immo and UA don't stack together.

See, that's helpful information. But they used to, didn't they? I dunno, doesn't really bother me, I just thought it was weird.

You gave the least amount of information possible, what did you expect? How is someone supposed to know you're using Immolate in your rotation still?
Well, he assumed I used some sort of buff trinket or something, so why not that I may be using another spell? I rarely actually use immolate, only on bigger stuff, really, where I'm not the only DPS.
I didn't notice it until we were goofing off in Nexus the other day. I still don't remember it ever doing that before...

It was extremely vague to begin with, but being that you're only around lvl 70, I didn't expect you to have trinkets that proc'd on casting spells (since they aren't too common from quests/reg instances in northrend).
In 3.1, they changed so that you can't have immo and Ua on the same target to simplify the Affliction rotation partly, and also to try and make Affliction a pure shadow tree.
