Not sure how you would do what the macro you mentioned does, but I use
#showtooltip
/cast Earth Shield
It won't set your focus or clear it, but it'll let you put your ES onto your focus. To set your focus, use the
/focus
command while targeting the desired person, and to clear your focus, you'd use the
/clearfocus
command.
