Oh dear, sounds like a job for the tech support.
*rolling thunder, lightning-flash*
Are you on a laptop or stationary computer?
If laptop, have you turned the wireless on?
If not, why not? :P
When you don't see the icon, what do you mean? What icon are you talking about?
The more information you post, the easier we can help you.

If the computer was working with wireless internet previously, but isn't now - you might just have to reset your connection.
In the bottom right hand side of your screen, there should be some sort of double monitor icon (unless that's the one that's missing). If it's there, click on it and bring up the network controls. Fiddle around in there until you can find something that says either "reset wireless adapter or network or whatever" or "repair connection" and follow the steps for that.

Since when? I have worked with computers for years and have never seen one.
For quiiiiite a number of years.
Regardless. If the internet just suddenly stopped working, it has nothing do with whether or not she's connected to wire or not.
To the threadstarter, get somebody close to you to check it out, as we on the forum have no idea of what kind of system/program/settings you use.
