My gear isn't crap but it's not the best. I have about half blues, but the other half of my gear is green and I am trying to focus on getting strength and stamina attributes on my gear. I do have a shield, but I still am DW with
Ripsaw and
Rubidium Hammer.
Having good gear is nice, but don't worry too much about it pretty too much about it. Aything you pick up along the way is fine for leveling up to 80. Better save your gold for mounts and other stuff later on as you level up. You seem to have a good understanding of what stats to look for, that's what matters most.
I'm having a lot of fun but I noticed after I got a dps meter that I was 4th in my group (the group had two warriors, a paladin, mage, and shaman) in dps during a run at BRD. I was wondering what I can do to improve dps, or should I even worry about that.
I wouldn't worry too much about it, as you level up further you'll gain more experience and learn your way around the game and the warrior class. The stickies in this part of the forum have some nice advice if you want to develop your playstyle.
tankspot has some really nice guides, along with videos. Despite the name, they deal with both dpsing and tanking.
elitistjerks has a lot of information, but this place can be a bit intimidating until you get some solid experience of the game.
This leads me to the question of what role does an Arms warrior have if we are not true tank or true dps? Are we supposed to be all-purpose? Here is my
armory. Is there any advice or direction any of you can give me?
Basically, in a pve enviroment the fury and arms tree are focused around dealing damage, and the protection tree is aimed towards tanking. However, it's perfectly possible to tank in a fury and arms spec with the right gear. Likewise it's possible to produce damage in a protection spec. Warriors, like most classes can fulfill multiple roles, but in a group situation you are usually assigned one specific role, either tanking or dpsing.
Also, like the first reply is saying, you'd be better off with a slow 2handed weapon in an arms spec.
