The "guide"TalentsThe following talent build is what i recommend.
I recommend using it since it will give you alot of avoidance which is necessary, while at the same time it gives you the means to bring down mobs faster than they bring you down.
Level 30Level 40Level 50Level 60Level 70I wont include any builds for the levels above 70 since this is a leveling guide.
Reckoning uptime and how many ranks you should havePeeveePeeIf you dont play on a PvP realm you can skip this section since it will only cover some tips and tricks on how to survive being ganked by hostile players.
First off a few short tips and tricks:
- Always try and keep an eye out for hostile players. Also try and interpret their intentions, are they waving and smiling at you? Or are they just waiting for you to go OOM so they can kill you?
- Are you in the middle of a popular gathering route? This is hard to know but if you see alot of 80s or high level players passing you by you might consider this.
Before you hit 60 there isn't really much you can do if someone tries to kill you. I'm not saying you should just lie down and die but seriously dont start any fights that you're not sure you can finish. You wont have alot of avoidance and you cant put out any real single target damage without going OOM very fast. So up until this point i suggest avoiding any PVP activity.
Though well at 60 you can kill 'em like never before! Using
Glyph of Avenger's Shield and having a few mobs hitting you, you can kill up to 2-3 other players at the same time. The reason to why it's a good thing having mobs hitting you is (atleast with my suggested build) you'll have a higher uptime on
reckoning and
redoubt which in turn will give you a higher mitigation (30% extra block) and alot more seal/judgement procs with
reckoning being up most of the time.
And the reason to why you as a prot pala will be getting so buffed compared to other classes at 60 is because pre-BC content is very very low on avoidance and mitigation, to get any you really need to stack agility which isnt that funny. But in BC content you'll get lots of defense, dodge and parry rating. Which in turns leads to more mana from BoS and more survivability.
On top of that you'll get
HotR at 60 (following my build) which does alot of damage.

GearShort Version:The stats you're aiming for is strength for the increased block value and extra spell power, stamina for the added health, and defense for survivability and mana regeneration. If you're looking at the auction house look for "of the Champion" which includes all of the above stats.
Long Version:Strength Strength will be one of the main stats when choosing gear for AoE grinding. Mainly because it increases both your block value and your damage output. A high block value is important since you want your blocks to mitigate all damage not just partially. Each point of strength will increase your block value by 0.5. It will also increase your AP by 2, and spell power by 0.6 through
Touched by the Light.
Agility Agility is a great stat since it increases dodge. But that's pretty much all it'll do to you as an AoE grinder. Agility can be good to stack when you're leveling from 30 to 40 when you dont have HS. Otherwise agility is a great plus for the dodge but Strength and Stamina is far better.
Stamina Stamina will be
the main stat when choosing gear. Each point of stamina will increase your HP by 10. I would recommend stacking as much stamina as possible without neglecting Strength. Your stamina will also be increased by talents such as
Sacred Duty &
Combat Expertise.
Intellect Intellect is pretty much useless, sure it increases the amount of mana you have and the amount of mana generated through BoSanc when you avoid an attack. But when you have more than 4 mobs hitting you even your base amount of intellect will be enough to keep your mana up through BoSanc.
Spirit Not much to say here. Useless to paladins in general.
ArmorArmor reduces the amount of damage you take from physical attacks and abilites. This will pretty much come automatically with gear. Though it will not if you do not make sure that
EVERY piece of your armor is
PLATE. There is absolutely no reason what so ever to wear anything other than plate.**
**After level 40 ofcourse, before that you can only wear mail so aim for that instead.
Defense Defense will also be one of the main stats when choosing gear. Defense will increase your chance to dodge, block and parry. In addition to that it will decrease the chance to be hit or critically hit. A high defense will mean that you avoid more attacks and take less damage. Though you shouldn't neglect Strength and Stamina.
AvoidanceAvoidance includes: dodge, parry and miss. Ways to increase these are by their respective rating (there is no miss rating but defense increases miss) or through defense. What avoidance does to you is that when one of these occur you will neglect all damage from an attack instead of just decreasing the amount of damage taken like you do with armor or block. Avoidance also is your main mana regeneration thanks to BoSanc. You can get
dodge and
parry through talents to increase your avoidance.
BlockBlocking an attack will negate damage equal to your block value. So if you have 500 block value you will negate up to 500 damage from physical attacks. Ways to increase your block value is through strength, items and
Redoubt. Your chance to block can be increased through block rating or defense. You can also increase your block through
Redoubt &
Holy Shield. And with these two talents you'll have a block value of atleast 65% most of the time, and rarely dropping below 35%.

GlyphsHere is a full list of glyphs
I would recommend these:
Major:Glyph of Hammer of the Righteous. Since each strike from HotR can proc SoL/JoL having it hit 1 more target will give you a chance at getting one extra SoL/JoL proc.
Glyph of Divine Plea. This baby is a must have! 3% damage reduction at all times!
Glyph of Seal of Light. 5% increased healing does alot when you're getting ~3-4 SoL/JoL procs each swing.
Glyph of Avenger's Shield. I only use this because i play on a PvP server and someone trying to gank you when you've got 10+ mobs hitting you is never funny.
If you dont play on a PvP server i dont recommend this Glyph at all!.

Were to go and whenIf i mark something with (H) or (A) it's horde or alliance only.
You should always consider switching areas if you're killing the mobs faster than they spawn no matter what this guide sais.
Level 30+--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level 30-33:Yeti cave in northern hillsbrad. ~1 100 HP, level 31-32
MapYou can get groups of 6+ yetis with some use of HoR.
A full clear of the cave should make sure the first ones you kill are respawned.
(H) Dabyrie farmstead in arathi highlands. ~1 100 HP, level 30-32
MapYou can easily get groups of 6-20 Dabyrie humans here, just remember to keep a good pace.
Level 32-35(A) Go'shek farm in Arathi Highlands. ~1 200 HP, level 33-35
MapYou can easily get groups of 6-20 Hammerfall orcs here, just remember to keep a good pace.
Level 36-38Desolace. ~1 550 HP, level 36-38
MapLots of Undead Ravagers here that are placed in a manner that will easily allow you to pull alot of them and at the same time be able to keep a distance if you need to pause.
Level 36-39Lost point in Dustwallow Marsh. ~1 500 HP, level 34-37
MapThe deserters here interrupt your casts so bring pots.
You can go here as early as 34 but i dont recommend that since the mobs do interrupt you.
Murlocs in Dustwallow Marsh. ~1 500 HP, level 35-37
MapThey run and pull themselves repeatedly, if done properly you can go 30 minutes without leaving combat.
Level 40+--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level 40-43The Cape of Stranglethorn in Stranglethorn Vale. ~1 800 HP, level 40-41
MapThe raptors here are pretty abundant but spread out so using HoR and your mount is important when pulling larger groups.
Level 40-46Nek'mani Wellspring in Stranglethorn Vale. ~2 100 HP, level 40-44
MapThe nagas are quite few and spread out but if you use your mount and HoR you can pull groups of atleast 6 nagas consistently.
Level 42-47Feral Scar Vale in Feralas. ~1 800-2 200 HP, level 43-45
Map
There are alot of yetis both inside the caves and outside nothing special with them.
Level 43-48Lost Rigger Cove in Tanaris. ~2 100- 2 200 HP, level 39-45
MapThe place is commonly occupied by questers or reputation grinders, however there are plenty of pirates here so sharing the spot shouldn't be all too difficult.
Level 45-50Dunemaul Compound in Tanaris. ~2 400 HP, level 46-48
MapThere are a couple of casters in this area but they are scarce. The Dunemaul Brutes and Enforcers are plentiful and mostly stacked in large groups.
If you do pull casters try to take them out first since it's hard to LoS them here and they do hurt.
Level 46-50Agol'watha in The Hinterlands. ~2 400 HP, level 46-48
MapThere are a ton of ooze here nicely spread over the whole area. Nothing special just mount up ride around and kill.
Level 46-51Rage Scar Hold in Feralas. ~2 400 HP, level 46-49
MapThis is similiar to the yeti cave in Feralas. Lots of yetis inside and outside the cave.
The deeper you go in the cave the higher the level of the mobs i recommend not engaging the Elder Yetis until you are atleast level 47.
Level 48-50(H)Nethergarde Mines in Blasted Lands. ~2 500 HP level 47-48
MapNon-fleeing, all melee mobs
Level 48-52Follow along the road in Felwood. ~3 000-3 500 HP Level 47-52
MapOn the side of the road in Felwood you'll find lots of bears often in groups of up to 6-8 bears.
The Angerclaw Bears (level 47-48) are south of Jaedenar, the Angerclaw Grizzly (level 50-52) are east of Irontree woods and everything in between are Angerclaw Maulers (level 48-50).
Level 50+--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level 50-54Sorrow Hill in Western Plaguelands. ~2 900 HP level 50-52
MapThis is probably the best location after the farms in arathi i've encountered so far. Pulling groups of 10+ mobs is not a problem, Holy Wrath is really really helpful if you need to heal (it stuns undead for 3 sec).
I would skip using exorcism here though since you lose alot of judgement uptime.
Using
Turn Evil to help with the pulling is also a great idea.
You will most probably be killing these faster than they spawn. This is only because of the higher dmg output paladins got against undeads. I would suggest staying here to atleast level 52/53 even if you're killing them faster than they spawn at level 50.
There is also a rare mob that may spawn underground, there's really not much to do about this but he spawns at a fairly unpopulated location (pretty much under the first building on your left if you approach from the road), so avoiding him wont be any problems as soon as you get a fix on his location.
Level 52-56Dalson's Tears in Western Plaguelands. ~3 100 HP level 52-54
MapThis place is just as awesome as Sorrow hill. Watch out for the scarlet pack though they usually hang out infront of the 2 buildings and can be really annoying if you get them together with a large group of mobs.
There is a mob that may get stuck on the broken down cart outside the barn here, try to pull it seperately or kill it during a pull. Unless you do it will cause all of the mobs you are currently in combat with to evade.
Level 58-63Forge Camp: Rage & Invasion Point: Annihilator ~5 000HP Level 60-62
MapStay away from the cannons and remember that the Legionnaires use Mortal Strike.
Level 60+--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level 60-64Hellfire Peninsula. ~5 200HP Level 59-62
MapTheese Bonestripper packs are just wonderful.
If you run between the 3 locations on the map you never have to stop.
Level 63-67Spirit Fields in Nagrand (N to E of Oshu'gun), ~5 300-6 000 HP level 60-66
MapThe Clefthoof packs here consist of 1 clefthoof bull (hostile) and 5-9 calfs and regular clefthoofs.
They stun so be aware of that but they usually throw away all their stuns at one time so it's mostly just annoying.
You can also find Banthar in this area he has a clefthoof pack with him, at higher levels pulling him and his group can be nice for a little boost in exp.
Level 64-68Nagrand, ~6 000 HP level 64-66
MapThere are a ton of Ravenous Windrocs here. Even though they are used for a quest (
Windroc Mastery) it is to my experience very rarely populated.
Level 67-72***
Ata'mal Terrace in Shadowmoon Valley. ~5 500 HP, level 70
MapDemon Hunter Initiates are extremely abundant and packed here watch out for the elite mob walking around though since he will have you for breakfast.
***Even though it is possible to level here all the way from 68-72 the amount of experience you need from 70-72 (about 3 mil) would require you to kill a little more than 6000 of these. Even so from 68-70 you need to kill alot and just by traveling to northrend you will get twice as much exp from each mob. Therefore to those that have WotLK i recommend these for leveling between 67-68 then going to northrend. But if you do not own WotLK these are your best choice up to 70.
Level 68-71Magmoth in Borean Tundra. ~2 000 HP, level 69-70
MapAt the bottom of this cave there is a room filled with "Offspring of Magmothregar". The room is filled with theese and even though they dont give full exp the number and respawn rate of these make them a perfect way to grind. There is also a "Mate of Magmothregar" in there that has about 9000 HP which makes it a perfect target for judging while killing the offspring.
Level 68-72Skörn in Howling Fjord. ~9 000 HP, level 70-71
Map.
There are a ton of Vrykul here mostly in groups of two. Watch out for the Shield-Maidens since they'll throw their shield at you and stun you for a few secs. I think this is on diminishing returns though since they'll do it several times per fight but halfway through you barely notice it. Also there are towers packed with mages casting frostbolts. You'll quickly learn their locations and to avoid them.
Level 68-74Kaw's Roost in Borean Tundra. ~8.5k HP, level 69-71
Map.
The Minions of Kaw here are abundant and there respawn time are insane. They're intended to be obstacles for completing a quest for Kaw that stands on a platform. The minions surround the platform where Kaw is positioned in a circle, it's impossible (you can't even attack him) to pull Kaw from the platform while running beneath it and killing his minions. It's possible to gather a full clear at a time and since they respawn so quickly you won't be able to loot them all before the next batch has spawned.
Level 70+--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level 70-73Crusader's Landing in Dragonblight. ~9 500 HP, level 71-72
MapThis place is packed with Onslaught mobs. Pulling big groups with low downtime wont be any problems.
Though dont pull too many since they'll do more damage depending on how many times they damage you. Each time they strike you in melee they gain 10 more physical damage (up to a maximum of 200) in the form of a buff called "Unrelenting Onslaught".
Level 70-74The Dragon Wastes in Dragonblight. ~10 000 HP, level 72-73
MapThere are groups of about 8-10 Kobolds and 4-5 Magnataur around the rocks here. Pulling the Kobolds first will make them drop their totems and the rest is just tank and spank. Do not camp only one rock, even though they respawn rather quickly moving between the rocks will make this a much more efficient grind.
Level 71-75Onslaught Base Camp in Dragonblight. ~9 800 HP level 71-73
MapThe Onslaught mobs are nicely grouped and there are plenty of them. Pulling large groups will never be a problem here. Though dont pull too many since they'll do more damage depending on how many times they damage you. Each time they strike you in melee they gain 10 more physical damage (up to a maximum of 200) in the form of a buff called "Unrelenting Onslaught".
The Dragon Wastes in Dragonblight. ~9800 HP level 72-73
MapThere are groups of 15-30 Wastes Diggers here which are undead so make sure to use HW. There are also a Wastes Taskmaster at each of the camps which is a humanoid that does some shadow damage. Make sure to focus the Taskmaster first since his spell damage can do quite some damage if left alive for too long. It should be doable to pull a full camp at one time and then proceed to the next once the first camp is dead. The mobs also spawn incredibly fast so going between two camps could easily be enough to make continuos pulls, or even just walking back and forth killing in one camp could be enough. The undead mobs will stack a bleed effect on you which ticks for a maximum of 1100 at 5 stacks, the attack cannot be avoided or mitigated but there should be no problems outhealing it with SoL/JoL.
Level 74-78The Argent Stand in Zul'Drak. ~11 000 HP level 75-76
MapThere's a ton of undeads outside the town here and their behaviour might seem very odd because of their interaction with the guards outside. The geists will jump back and forth eating on the guards to get HP back, gargoyles will come down from the sky and pick up the guards and the abominations will use their hooks to drag you to them.
Level 77-80Jotunheim in Icecrown ~12 500 HP, level 79-80
MapThere is a ton of Mjordin Combatants' dueling here and pulling 3-5 groups at a time really isnt any problem. Alot of people will be doing dailys here but you dont have to worry about them since they dont need to kill the mobs only put a flag in their corpses.
The mobs can get annoying from time to time since they will throw you up in the air then push you back about 15 yards thus pushing you away from your consecrate. Dont worry about this though since you just have to put down a new consecrate, moving around will just lead to getting mobs in your back were you cant avoid them.
