I was talking to someone I've met and he seems like a good person and I'm on my way of getting a Mage up to 80. However, he warned me that once you get to 70, it becomes like 10 hours just to level up one level. I can't believe what he was telling me, if that's the case then I'll never make it on time when Icecrown comes out. =(

It took me 10 days of real-time to get to 80 from 70 on a T5 geared rogue.

Wow.....thats a whole 24 hours a level....been a while since I leveled without heirlooms so maybe my memory is off. Still....3.3 won't be out for a good while so get to leveling!
no no, you misunderstood
It wasn't 10 days of pure gameplay
I got wotlk on 16th, was lvl80 on 26th.

lol 10 hours, I'd say like 1-1.5 hours for levels before 72-73, then a bit more.
Always queue for Alterac Valley after u get to lvl 75 or something (so that u can actually hit things there :D) and quest while waiting.
Took me about 3 hours to lvl my new DK from 68-71 this way. Dinged in a UK normal run. If u have a good group, instance leveling is actually the fastest way to lvl.

On my hunter, who hit Northrend on release day, I was estimating about 8 hrs per level.
That was with decent gearing, but also with a huge amount of people all fighting for the same quest kills/items/etc, and no knowledge of the quests.
Now the information is out there, and in Carbonite/Quest Helper etc, plus the introduction of heirlooms for those of us lucky enough to have an 80 already, things have speeded up drmatically.
On wednesday i transferred my level 71 priest to my realm, and sent her some heirlooms. She dinged 80 on sunday lunchtime, with time for levelling professions, doing dungeons, and messing around on other chars. And I work full time.
So yeah, 10 hours is definitely over the top unless you spend an awful lot of time just messing around.

I got wotlk on 16th, was lvl80 on 26th.
Likewise, I got WotLK on the 13th and was level 80 on the 22nd. I couldn't tell you how long it took on my other two 80s, I can't remember.
Now days with the Heirlooms and pre-77 flight, leveling should take much less time. I think my level 79 to level 80 took around 7 hours back in the day. Somewhere between 4 and 6 hours per level sounds right to me.
Remember that a lot depends on how well you know the quests (or use Questhelper), if you are using Heirlooms, and if you have Epic Flight.

On my main it took me 5-6 hours to gain a level from 70 - 80
On my DK alt (77 atm) taking me 3-4 hours to gain a level. Note I have 1 heirloom item and epic flying on DK and he is always rested and I have a good idea how and where to quest in wotlk( better than with my main )

Following good circles of quests in the proper area for your level will level up your char ridiculusly quick. It might be a few hours if you see it like that, but it will feel like it's going fast.
My druid came to Northrend at 70. I did Howling Fjord and almost got to 73. Went to Borean and now when I'm almost done there my druid is lvl 76. I have done 3 normal dungeons and the Amphitheater but otherwise I've just quested. I would level a bit quicker if I leveled in zones closer to my level but I just can't skip quests >->
She's wearing 2 heirlooms, which I didn't use in the dungeons.
It's going too fast to level her ;P
this is usually what I do except I like to get borean out of the way first then head over to howling fjord cause by that point im in all northrend quest gear and @#$% is waaay easier, however my current hunter im leveling has no heirlooms or rested, just finished both borean and howling and broke into dragonblight at 72, which isnt bad cause I should be right by 74 when done then its easy from there.
