Spells cast by bosses won't ever crit.
Elemental melee attacks can crit, but are mitigated byt the talent.

Fantastic guide!
My question is about how you select mobs and cast spells while tanking. I have always moved with WASD, selected mobs either with tab or using the mouse, and cast all of my spells/skills using the mouse. I sometimes have trouble targeting a mob to regain aggro and hitting my taunt/mangle quickly.
Any comments on how other tanks do their job (i.e. how you select mobs, mouse vs. keyboard for skills) would be appreciated.

I hear a lot about having a lacerate mouseover macro, but i've grown so used to my method, that i haven't bothered. First of all, i suggest having the enemy health bars on screen (press V or cnt-V). just switching thorough with tab or clicking seems to work for me. i have maul, mangle, lacerate, and faerie fire all bound to keys around W, A, S, D (respectively bound to Q, E, R, F). that way you can run around and be hitting the threat buttons at the same time
my questions are these:
what heroics are the easiest?
can i with my current stats tank any of them?
if you have good healing friends then you can do any heroic. however, if you're working with healers who are you gear level or below, i'd stick with the lower level heroics (ramps, BF, SP, UB, MT, and crypts). most of these heroics drop very nice druid epics.
amazing guide. the only thing that i was wondering and didnt see was 12 agility vs 120 armor to cloak.
it mostly depends on your gear. if you are extremely lacking in the armor department, then go for it. but as you get better geared, you'll find that you have more than enough armor. agility adds to dodge rating (which is phenomenal in 5 mans), crit rating and AP (both of which make building threat a heck of a lot easier), and it does add to armor. So in general, i'd add the 12 agility because everything that agility adds is extremely useful to a druid tank.

You might want to add this to your Weapon Inventory as a Feral Druid.. Although you need a 5 man, just think of it as doing 5 bosses with plenty of time to heal.

That was definitely my first real feral weapon.

Something I've been wondering about my TPS on a raid boss versus heroics. I can normally hit over 1000 TPS in heroics and on trash in raids, but on the actual raid boss its around roughly 800 TPS. My question is what would a geared (mostly epicced) druid tank be doing for TPS on a raid boss?

Nab,
thanks for all the brain work on this thread. This is the most comprehensive document I have found on Druid tanking. I just recently re spec'd from balance to feral and your post has made the transition
easy as pie.
Your list on pre-kara gear helped me confirm I was on the right track in gearing. Thanks to your information I'm a level 68 with 10,000+ health and over 15,000 armor with a hit rating of 92.
Thanks much (thumbs up)

That would be 75% dmg reduction, and if I'm right 35k armor.

Well these series of guides are by far the most valuables. I do have been using them and makes the whole world of difference. My true honest gratitude for this priceless effort to help both newcomers and old players.
About the following segment:
Multi-mob tanking is somewhat harder. Swipe is our main tool for holding aggro on multiple mobs. Swipe spam is good enough to hold aggro on three mobs in some circumstances. Swipe does not generate any extra threat (see Offensive Tanking Math, below). This means it generates threat purely through damage dealt. Depending on how hard you're getting hit, this might not be enough to out-aggro your healers. The usual way to do "Swipe spam" is to:
1. Spam Swipe
2. Spam Maul on your main target
3. When tanking more than three mobs (which is difficult for a druid, but possible) change targets frequently to be sure all the mobs in the pull are getting Swiped.
Ok, I am not sure I get the concept of spam, related specially with the use of Swipe. Commonly, spamming suggests multiple / frequent / consecutive use. But I somehow feel this is not what is totally meant on the Swipe spam quote. So please correct me if I'm wrong.
What I mean is, for example, -Swipe spam- would mean multiple/consecutive of this skill, but this leads me to wonder if such frequency wouldn't result in the opposite, since it has been already stated that you can't rely too much on Swipe for TPS. Therefore, too much Swipe would make you lose the mobs, specially as starting strategy where a healer casts a preventive heal (or should they wait some secs for threat to build up, raising the risk of losing the tank?). So, how many/much is Swipe spam?
On the other hand, the consecutive atribute of the meaning of spam, makes more sense when talking of 'spamming' Maul, as it's definately -along with Mangle- the best tool to hold aggro.
This is what confuses me. Thanks in advance, to anyone, for clarifying this matter.
