In PVE it's a fantastic talent for a mutilate build, not
as
much in PVP but it's still better than the alternatives.

I have added part three, but have had to delete my reservation post for part four in order to make room for it. I will email Wowhead to see if they can add in an extra post before the first response to this thread in order to make room. Might need two the way I'm going : \

Recommendation - Point out the swappable talents (Fillers, or otherwise personal preference talents) for each build. So people know what they can/should swap out to still have a viable build for each spec.

I actually have a version which mentions all interchangeable talents, saved in a word document. I couldn't use it as it put the post above its character limit (in its current form it's about three characters short of it). I tried editing it down but to no avail.

I was just thinking, with the PvE Fist/Swords spec, is it worth trying to get atleast 1 point in Imp Evis?
<3 :)
Nope.

Last time I checked sword spec only procs on sword hits and will only hit with a sword, not whatever just happens to be in the main hand, so why is fist/sword spec the best raid dps spec???

I don't know how you've been checking, but that's incorrect.

I've made an entry for the levelling section of the compendium. I've no doubt I'll be adding some more information to it in time, as it's a bit brief in its current state.

not entirely sure i agree with all your math, but generally speaking it's a wonderful guide.
wanted to ask you though, why do favor sinister strike over backstab? all the spreadsheets i've run show a distinct favortism to combat daggers(
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=f0xf0xZhfi0zEz0MGotV
) with backstab effectively replacing sinister strike. at lower gear levels most weapon types are for the part equal with maces being slightly lower, but all of the math i've seen from others and compiled for myself shows much better scaling from daggers for raiding. backstab may cost you 33% more energy than a talented sinister strike, but nets about 50% more damage with even moderate gear.
I don't understand what math there is for you to disagree with, the only purely mathematical information I've provided is the MAEP formula. I used the formula as an example of the relative values of each damage attribute, seeing as it's one of the most complete I've found to date (there's another MAEP formula in EJ's 101 thread, though it's largely the same). There's no definitive formula on this subject, so the best we have are those which players have formed and refined based on extensive testing.
As for your own research, I'd suggest you start doing it in a manner or place other than however or wherever you're doing it now, as your findings are incorrect. It has been proven and accepted for quite some time now that combat daggers falls behind most of the other deep combat specs, both on paper and in practice. If you want to understand why then I'd suggest doing your reading in
EJ's class mechanics forum.
