It seems a little bit temperamental, but its actually working pretty well.

Fun fun fun!
I will have to build some non-standard decks to play against you, but I have no experience with older cards so I will probably fail =P

I'll look up some Innistrad cards and see if I can tweak some of the M12 sets I've been playing with on MTGO. I think the OCTGN format works better for creature-heavy decks, and I usually have more fun playing those anyways.
The Dragonstorm deck... if it works it works well. The other 85% of games I lose staring at a stack of Time Counters. And even when it works, it's not all that fun lol.

Creature aggro is so fun :) I looooooooooved the Ally mechanic because of all the creature synergy, maybe I'll make one of those. I want to make a squirrel token deck sometime too.

I've been wanting to try MTG for a while, but I never get around to it. As nice as it would be to hang around and play with you guys, I simply don't think I have time to =(

Maybe when work quietens down a bit.
If I wanted to just look through cards and assemble a deck, should I try following that OCTGN thing in the previous page? I can look around and try to theorycraft a bit and come back when I'm confident I understand the rules again =)
(It's been a really, *really* long time since I've played any MTG - I've only played a game or two with my friends' decks way back in
third edition
, none of this M12 stuff =P)

Heckler and I tried out two games on it today and it worked like a charm for me. I think he had a hiccup or two on his end, but he sorted it all out, and we had a blast. The great thing about it is that you have complete access to every possible card ever made so the sky's the limit when it comes to making whatever deck you want to make =D
Even us awesome ^pros^ (I wish) don't know all the rules. Heckler and I had to look up a rule while we were playing. Playing with friends is the best way to learn or relearn the game!

I couldn't even get all the sets downloaded from that site you linked. That's actually where I was getting them from already. Also, program was still screwing up.
Did you do all these steps?
Download octgn
Download the mtg game file
Download the mtg token file
Download any number of the set files
Stick all files in a permanent directory
Run octgn
Add mtg game file
Add set and token files under mtg
That's what I did and I did not have any problems. I'm even playing an "online" game right now by myself =P
Well... I've got OCTGN... working on these game files now...

Ok, I installed MTG in the game area, and put the 5th edition, and tokens into the game, then clicked on "manage decks" and the game errors and crashes.

Ok, got it figured out.

If the card just has a big picture with attack and toughness, but no mana cost, is it free?

Well... I guess no one is on here... So one last thing, when I click "start new game" on OCTGN, the program freezes and I have to AltCtrDel.
Edit: 5 posts in a row... that's a record for me I believe.

Is there a safe place to download OCTGN? My antivirus software is telling me that the cardfloppers site is malicious.

By the way, I won my first game on there. I constructed my deck out of small gryffons, really large creatures, and equipment. Most of my big creatures got canceled, but my small gryffons pecked him to death.

Thanks MyTie. Starting to download it all now.
