So it appears we have another spec swap patch for raids?
Amirite?
Not sure what your asking. If you are already MM you wont have to swap or change a thing to get the nice gains from this. The only thing in question is whether improved hunters mark and glyph will be a must have or not.
I wonder if blizz is thinking the reduced mana cost buff will close the gap between MM and SV to put them more equal in damage?
Since all 3 trees will benifit from the hunters mark buff,
Is BM getting nothing that will bring it closer to MM or SV?
Spec swap = People will be going to Marks as the flavor of the month now.

4k dps(no offense) is not competetive. That may be competetive in YOUR environment, but that is not acceptable when you are raiding 25 man ulduar hard modes.
I disagree. Competitive DPS is not, I do not think, measured against what the absolute smallest fraction of raiders are doing. Running Ulduar 25 hard mode is more of a niche raiding area, and I believe "competitive" DPS is best measured against the widest sample or population of raiders. In that case I'd call 4K DPS pretty dang competitive if not putting in a pretty impressive showing.
Anyways, as a Marksman Hunter, I wholeheartedly embrace and welcome these upcoming changes. Particularly the assistance to mana conservation, that will be a great boon.

Competitive sports do not refer to the majority of the worlds ability in that sport. It refers to the most skilled individuals.
In a situation like wow, this is even more important to note due to the fact that the top players will pull the best possible damage, which if hunters fall behind there show, at the end of the day our class does not measure up.
Im sorry, but you saying that this refers to hunters, and from the way your saying it, hunters only is false. Any class can be viewed upon like this.
Whilst I believe that 4k dps on certain bosses is laughable at best, I can still most certainly agree that this is a very competitive level of dps for the average Hunter - casually raiding or in a guild that is progressing through Ulduar.
There are only a couple of fights in Ulduar where I dont hit 5k+ dps. Other fights I am hovering around 6.9k (yet to break the elusive 7k)
The hunters in high ranked guilds (like myself) are expected to do the most damage/dps that we can. We read through strategies/forums/theory crafting and are constantly looking for ways to better ourselves.
There is always going to be an 'elite' group and the 'non elite' group.
The non elite group I would consider to be in the category of doing 'competitive dps'. The elite group, this is what I believe people look up too, and as such is the pinnacle of hunter dps.

Somethings been bothering me in this thread... A lot of people are saying the mana usage reduction to MM is going to make it better, that is false... Sort of...
What I mean to say is, with the right group composition you can basically have infinite mana (unless maybe its a fight that has you using volley) I've never been MM so I don't know if its enough for them, but my point is in a group where both specs will have enough mana to make it through the fight without Viper then survival will still be better.
Although I heard with the best of the best T8 gear MM becomes better...
Basically the reason I posted this is to say that MM is only getting buffed in certain situations. Oh and all of what i've said is from a PvE standpoint, I don't know very much about PvP.
That's not entirely true.
Pretty much all MM hunters were taking at least some kind of talents to help with mana. With better raid replenishment it was usually just Rapid Killing + Rapid Recuperation for some extra regen, but that's still 4 talent points that can be spent elsewhere now. That
will
increase DPS.

You are doing near 7k dps with MM or SV, and if you can post some wws/wowmeters please. I'd love to see your raid comp to help me optimize some stuff.
Also what 2 boss fights do you find yourself really doing the most dmg?
http://wowwebstats.com/d3gf63ugo5s5m?s=182031-225215
- thats XT. Scroll through the other fights. I took a bit of a personal DPS loss when I first initially went MM, however my dps has gone up with t8.5 gear.
I am still lacking on razorscale, however the mechanics of the fight (same with Freya) reduce your dps with the multiple add killing and lots of moving.
