Don't worry, they will make new lore. Create a new evil lord and he will have to be subdued.

have look around the lore web-sites like wowikki and youll find the full maps of everywhere in the warcraft lore.
so many islands in betweekn eastern kigdoms and kalimdor, the maelstorm, undermine and random islands etc
http://images.wikia.com/wowwiki/images/1/13/EarlyWoWworld.jpg
-
world map fully labeled
- be warned its an early one so not everything is where its meant to be but its good nehow
could be somet like whoever is in the maelstorm is attacking the undermine and horde an alliance come to help the goblins being neutral to both lol
god knows and as people said emerald dream, although i hope that place gets looked at before another expansion.

The good thing about fiction... there's unlimited amounts of it. There's no such thing as "using up all the lore" when it comes to the potential to make billions of dollars.

Exactly. Plus, they can always "make something up" or find something in lore incredibly obscure, the well can almost never grow dry.
Why do you think they made Legolas a pirate for 3 movies? Caysh!!

Right. Since the lore is all made up, they can just keep making up more. ;)

Bingo. There are still loose ends in the existing lore anyway, and coming up with new material for future expansions can't be all that hard.
The only limiting factor will be attracting new players; when the next level cap is 90, how many new players will really want to spend all that time grinding 1-60, then 60-70 for BC content, then 70-80 for WotLK, when their buddy who introduced them to the game is already at/close to level 90 in whatever that expansion happens to be.
Blizzard made it easier to play catch-up with patch 2.3 and 2.4, but at some point, spending $14.99/mo for "old content" through the original and 2 expansions won't make sense for new players. I wouldn't be surprised if the cost of the standard WoW is reduced or even eliminated, shortly after WotLK is released.

Either that, or create a new system where your existing characters can be copied or transferred, kind of how the D&D games had done with the old gold box games all the way up to Neverwinter Nights.

By the way, they already have plans for the next expansion, after WLK. Nothing official, but they have plans.
So, unless Blizzard goes bankrupt or WLK fails horribly, it won't be the end.
Actually, LK CAN fail horribly. No matter how bad LK could ever be, even if you unsubscribe, as soon as you hear about the next expansion, many will at least buy it to try it for a month, I'm willing to bet.

Personally, I hope "The Emerald Dream" would be the setting for the third expansion. Searching for Malfurion Stormrage would be interesting (who could have gone insane -- like some of the members of the Green Dragonflight, such as Eranikus -- and become a raid boss like his brother). Plus, as an entirely different realm ala Outland, it would give Blizzard a lot to play with for a new continent.
