For a moment Zakire was confussed, why would the scarlet crusade have death knights. What was going on. But it did not matter, they where still the enemy. Being this close to the enemy... The necromancer made a cry akin to a banshee, a terrifying howl to bring fear to them too close. And to follow up she raised a fist to the skies and lowered it. Calling down a meteor of the dead at her location. It was not instant so she had time to run...
"Zakire!" Lord Swordhaart cried out in fear and rage. He launched himself at the crusaders slicing wildly with his runeblades. Shattering steel with the second blow of his frozen swords. Slowly he made his path to Zakire.

Sybil's surprise was momentary. Stepping forward she brought up her shield and sword, rushing to meet the charging undead.
Miter, meanwhile, turned to the undead so suddenly near him. With a gesture almost contemptuous he swung his unholy mace at Zakire, the black flames licking from the shards of ice embedded in it making a sound like a chorusing scream of torment as it cut through the air.

With the heavy mace hitting her head hard. The necromancer fell down in unconsciousness.
The death knight did not stop his charge he placed his shoulder first. Aiming to just tackle Sybil's shield and shove her to the side.

After a second's assessment Linder judged that the inquisitor held his ground firmly and that her aid was best leant to Sybil. For a moment she thought she should ask Miter to spare the necromancer and take her prisoner, but then she realized she didn't care. On to Sybil and the giant of a man who was on his way to tackle the crusader. Evlyn connected with the other woman and poured through her own mental strength to fortify the crusader's physical, as she had been taught.

Sybil widened her stance and braced herself behind her shield. She reeled with the impact of the other undead, her feet skidding back a step, but she held and, bunching her muscles, pushed back.
Miter looked down at the necromancer and lowered himself. He grabbed the insensate Zakire by the scruff of the collar and dragged him upright with ease. His glowing golden eyes studied them.

Wylliem began to raise his hand for a unholy blow on the crusader but everything seemed to move away from him. Like he was dragged from the fight by an unseen force.
The death knight found himself beside Twylith whom had pulled him out of the fire.
"Why didn't you do that to Zakire. Leave no man behind." Lord Swordhaart called out in a angry tone
"She is a woman. And I thought she had it covered." Twylith shrugged.
"Regardless. Let's get out of here." Kyr added to the conversation as the three valiant scourge retreated.

Sybil started as her opponent was suddenly dragged away from her. "Wh-Hey!" She turned about to her fellow risen crusaders. "After them!" she roared and pounded down the hill after the other undead.
Miter watched her go with unfathomable gold eyes. Then he returned his attention to the dead littering the hill.

"You are not welcome here," she barked.
Balrick's hands creaked as they tightened on Moriv's reins. The dreadsteed danced, tossing his head with his master's rising temper. Balrick let out a slow breath which frosted the already deathly cold air.
"Then we will not."
Balrick looked away towards their living companions. "Gather your supplies and rest for today. My fellow death knight and I will wait there." He nodded towards a small copse of withered black trees not far, poking up like clawing skeletal hands from the snow white field. He spared the night elf a second glance. "Is that acceptable?"
The sentinel curled her lip but gave a quick, stiff nod.

A makeshift camp of tents with ancient highborne pillars standing ruined by time and a moonwell.
Nothing that looked like a tavern.

The three ran downhill without rest for they were restless dead. And they had no intention of fighting of further fighting scarlet and their new creations and superior numbers.
Zakire remained as she was, alive and unconscious. A living necromancer, like so many of the cult of the damned.

Miter watched the undead retreat, and did not pursue. It was a quick and easy victory. Something the newly christened crusaders needed. One accomplished with the aid of the new death knights. How poetic. He glanced at the necromancer in his grasp, then tilted his head to Evlyn. "
Do not pursue
," he said, voice echoing across the glacial plain. "
We have no need. Victory, my fellow Crusaders. The first of many against the hated Scourge.

The three had outruned the crusade and are now upon snowy fields.
"We should return." Wylliem muttered solemnly.
"And end up deader or like her?" Twylith responded.
"That's what she would do..." Lord Swordhaart trailed of.
"You poor delusional knight." Kyr'gaer shaked his head.
"Now what?" Twylith asked.
"We tell Morginar." The darkfallen stated.

Dragonblight
The crusaders summoned up a roaring victory cry. The deaths of their comrades meant even less now than before Miter had shown them to the cave, and dying whilst fighting the Scourge had never been in vain. Many surely held an apprehensive hope that the fallen soon would stand again, as Sybil had.
Evlyn was more interested in the captured necromancer. The light's rejects - the shambling undead - interested her, but there had to be so much she could learn from one so foul as to willingly join in the Traitor Prince's army.

Miter looked over the bodies of the fallen crusaders. "
So. Our victory was not without cost
," he told the survivors. He pushed the insensate necromancer away, Sybil catching the young woman reflexively. Miter walked forward to stand at the edge of the field of corpses. The black fire of the mace began to writhe and crackle. Around them the shadows deepened, as if the black ice sucked up the light. "
Dead
." He raised his weapon. "
But not lost
."
Ragged black magic like writhing lightning crackled along the mace. It crawled up Miter's body, the light of his pauldrons flickering crazily. The air hummed like a chorusing dirge. The wind rose, fluttering shredded cloaks and Miter's robes.
Miter threw forward his mace. A bolt struck from it, shattering the silence and electrifying one of the dead. Fingers of black magic crawled over the corpse, rising from it like black fire. Then, the crusader lurched. Flesh withered on the hand and face, muscles coming into stark relief on an arm as if every drop of water had been sucked from him. The crusader rose in stiff, jerking motions, the black fire rising from their shoulders like steam. The corpse blinked, and eyes opened wide were lit with blazing yellow light.
"
No more will death stop us
," Miter said as a second bolt struck another corpse, dragging it into reanimation. "
So do not fear Crusaders. A glorious afterlife waits you in the Light. But for now, until our work be done, we will walk this world in shadow, and drag that which is hidden into the light of truth!
"
Miter raised his arms. The wind kicked up, sending snow fluttering around them like white motes of light. Like a beacon the lightning arched from Miter and into the dead, raising three at a time. More. Soon the whole field of the dead moved as the fallen stood again, picked up their blades, and exhaled the last living breath.

"Any bright ideas as to how we-" The darkfallen was interupted by a bright light and then finding himself and the two others in a dark room. "Get to Mor... Huh." He continiued but he stoped as his eyes fell on the skeletal lich.
"You failed." His hollow voice echod thrugh the chamber.
"Wait, you could have teleported us at any time?" Twylith asked with dislike.
"Anytime suiting me." Morginar replied.
"Then you cou-" Lord Swordhaart began but was interupted by a conjured lolipop placed into his mouth by a skeletal hand. "Thanks Morginar, you're the best." The death knight spoke with slured tounge from the candy.
"I'll report your failiure to the lich king." He glanced at the three before going to his throne and reached out with his mind to the monarch.

Guiding his horse to the scattered trees Balrick dismounted heavily. Moriv nuzzled his master's shoulder and chewed on Balrick's hood as the death knight snapped off black branches and gathered them in a pile. Crouching before the pyramid of sticks, he struck a tinder box, sending a spark into the mass.
It caught fire gradually. Shielded from the worst of the wind by Balrick, he nursed the flames until they took, kindling and warming about the sticks. The warm orange light illuminated the death knight, who sat down reflectively before the dancing flames.

And the three were teleported back to the frozen wastes.
"I think I can create a brilliant plan to take down the crusaders by the time we arrive." Twylith sparkled up to his two companions.

Evlyn Linder
Dragonblight
The hollow glares of the risen met with the eyes of the not yet fallen. Some crusaders looked positively fascinated, others slightly disgusted. But none seemed to deny the effectiveness in not losing soldiers to simple death.
"Back to work, crusaders!" Evlyn interrupted the stalemate, barely raising her voice over the dead silence. They fell out, the aftermath of the battle very unlike the normal piling of corpses and burning those slain.
These newly resurrected were not the same as Sybil and her likes, Linder observed, and she began to wonder about the nature of the artifact's magic. Or was it Miter's now? How did he control it, know how to work it?
Is the Shadow really that pliable?
"Well, back to work it is", she reminded herself after a few moments. Standing about would not do when others laboured on your command. "Sybil", she said, "let's secure our prisoner with a few good turns of rope."

" Miter said, moving past the death kngiht and shadow priest.
Sybil started, drawing herself up. "Milord?"
"
I have some...questions, for our guest
," the inquisitor said, voice a chilled whisper as he passed beneath the frozen arch of the cave.
Sybil gave Evlyn a sidelong glance and began to bind the necromancer's limbs.

Balrick watched the fire he had lit intently. It had melted the snow around it, but for that it may as well have been nonexistent. He still couldn't feel it. Thoughtfully, he reached forward and put his mailed hand into the fire. the flames crackled and danced over his fingers, swirling about them like a red tide over black rocks. He held it there for several minutes, then pulled free his hand. Steam rose from his fingers, wafting into the air. He closed his fist.
Nothing.
He stood and looked back towards the night elf encampment.
