"Nothing in the last couple years," Asher said, shaking his head. "Especially not to elicit that kind of reaction. Unless..." he trailed off for a moment. "Wait. Wait a second."
He beckoned the others outside after waving goodbye to the lady in the coffee shop. "My boss is a professor from the local university," he said quickly as he walked. "He was part of the history department, his specialty being the island and surrounding area. Recently, he was researching the lake set in the middle of the island, and I remember seeing the symbol, the one on that guy's arm, on one of his papers."

67th street proved to be a rather high end shopping area, with clothing and jewelry stores lining both sides. Skyscrapers soared into the air, their blazing signs displaying everything one could want- and more.
One in particular stood at 2020; a thin, modern-style tower piercing the sky. A sign out front proudly displayed:
Zhang Corp.

Cecil rubbed his brow. He sharply took his hand away and stared ion horror at the blood he had been smearing on his face. Hastily pulling out a handkerchief he made an effort to wipe away the stains.

"Lake. Singular," Asher said, taking a turn and going down a quiet suburban road. "In the middle of the island. Apparently there was a rather important archaeological dig there some time ago, but has since been dismantled. He took over the project after they left and has been keeping it up ever since."
He took another turn, putting them down yet another road lined with midsize houses. "I think he had a breakthrough yesterday. He sent me to the library to pick up a book for him. Unfortunately, well..." he trailed off and shrugged. "I wasn't able to get it."

Oscar Harvey
Takeneko City, 67th Street
Oscar stopped in front of the entrance, comparing the address on his card with the one displayed next to the door. "Looks like the place," he agreed with Mei and stepped up to the door. "Want to do this?"

Oscar nodded and cracked a weak smile at the girl's antics, then turned his attention to the door and particularly to the search for a doorbell or other means of communication.

A speaker on the sign crackled to life. "Zhang Industries, how may I help you?" a polite, clipped female voice asked.

"Uhm, hello. My name is Oscar Harvey and I, well, was handed a card by a person claiming his boss would like to see me. Irishman, by the looks of it."

"Anything to be said about this lake and archiologial site? Like the dead will walk the earth?" Akira asked Asher, his arms crossed.

Erin Laidlann
Takaneko City, East Side
"Then maybe we should make a quick stop there and grab it now." Erin suggested, following. As she walked, she looked down at the red bloodstain on the front of her turtleneck. Grunting, she pulled her hands into her sleeve, ripping the article of clothing off her torso.
What was left covering her was a black, sleeveless, undershirt. It was also torn near her chest where the bullet had punched through her, but its color hid the bloodstain.

Character:
Jonathon Jackson, Tell
Location:
Takaneko City, East Dock
Tell was abominably quick. As he led them away from the city center he would frequently skate back and laughingly urge the pair to hurry as he glided over the ground on wheels. Shortly the smell of sea water and the shrieks of gulls became more evident, coupled with the arms of immense cranes rising over buildings making it quite clear that they were near. Rounding a final corner the wharves opened up before them in the immeasurable expanse of the sea filled with the heavy, bloated bodies of cargo ships bobbing lazily at port.
Tell slid before the pair, grinning broadly. He threw his arms wide. "Well, we're here! Told ya I'd bring ya!"
Jonathon grunted, glancing at the ships and the longshoreman working about the docks.

Cecil Fleming

"Are you...a student?" Cecil asked heavily. "You called him...your boss. That is a strange..." He trailed off morosely and looked away at the shops they were passing.

"One moment please," the speaker said. A few moments passed by in silence. Then the voice returned. "Thank you for stopping by. An official will be down in a moment to speak with you."
As the speaker went dead again, the glass doors slid open and a man stepped out. He looked to be in his late thirties, Chinese, and wore a grey suit with a blue shirt. "Welcome, welcome," he said, holding out a hand to shake. "I hear you've already met Mr. Finnegan?"

"Not really," Asher said, shaking his head. "It was just some ruins from whoever lived here before. We've been there plenty of times, nothing weird happened." To Cecil he added, "No, I'm not a student. I'm his research assistant. Get the books, fetch the coffee, make breakthroughs that my name isn't on, etc."
A moment later, he stopped in front of a particular house. It was a Tudor style house, two stories, with a neatly kept front lawn. "This is the place," he said.

"Yep!" Janet cheered; giving Tell a brief hug before releasing him. Nodding, she continued on, eying the ships docked along the harbor.

Tell laughed and hugged her back. When she let go he giggled and skated after her like a happy puppy, his rollerblades rattling over the uneven cement. "So he came in his own private boat, see? And according to the docking authorities he's around pier thirteen, near where the fishing boats are."

Asher approached the front door and knocked loudly. A few moments passed before he did it again. "This doesn't feel right," he said quietly. "The lights are on and car is here. Why isn't he answering?"
He produced a key from within his pocket and slid the deadbolt back slowly, then pushed open the door. He stepped into an entrance hall clearly set to impress. Artifacts from Takeneko's past shared table space with those from other countries and even continents, all tastefully placed along the walls. There was a door along the left, right and centre of the hallway, all three closed.
"Left is basement," Asher whispered. "Which is always open." He reached over and gently tried to turn the knob. "And it's locked. That never happens." He turned back to the others. "Stay on guard. This isn't right at all."
With that, he produced the same key and unlocked the basement door.
