Maybe he knew it would take time for people to be ready for his new set of teachings? The way I always figured it was, the Old Testament were the rules that people needed at the time it was set forth. When Jesus was born, it was a different time, when the New Testament was more appropriate.

He should write a new one. It's been 2000 years, we're kind of different now.
Oh yeah, if there was someone who claimed to have a new bible, and let's say it really is the word of god, would you, just know it? Or would you have to trust this person isn't lying. This is such a dumb question.

Well according to the Bible there will be no more prophets (one of the reasons Christians rejected Muhammad as a true prophet) and the next time God intervenes on the Earth will be shortly before Christ's second coming.

I meant for example, regulations on not over-beating your slaves.

That's a rule? The rule wasn't to not have slaves... or at least not beat them at all? God went easy on those guys, but being gay is a sin. Cool.
Also, that rule could've been useful in early American history. I mean, the not overbeating one. The other ones too though.

And pork is clean now?

And pork is clean now?
Might be slightly off the topic, but an Australian airline, QANTAS, recently merged with Emirates airlines, and basically the next day advertised that they were removing pork from their in flight menu, so as not to offend anyone.
Is this not almost discrimination in reverse to those who have no religion, or who's religion has nothing against pork?

I don't think you discriminate against anyone for not serving them pork on your menu...
Doing something like that to not offend someone is a choice a company is allowed to make and it's only their business.
Reminds me, coca cola is doing this thing where they are putting common names on their products and they have chosen to not put Mohammed on their because it might offend some people. Now if they want to do that, it's up to them, but Mohammed is the most used name (if I recall correctly) and it seems a little weird.
I also recall it was not muslims they were worried about offending, as muslims were the ones calling it discrimination.

It's not that they are not serving it to certain people, it's that they removed it from the menu completely, for everyone, so as not to cause offence to one group of people that I found curious.

It is still not discrimination. There are lots of things they don't have on the menu, removing something to cater to a large part of their customer base makes perfect sense, specially since they shouldn't lose customers from any other group because of it. Unless you pick airline based on wether they have pork or not (which happens to taste horrible in airplane food anyway)

Hmm, it remains to be seen if an Australian airline will pick up a large customer base from the Emirates region.
Time will tell I guess.

You could turn that same argument against anything. God says murder is bad, and if God is omnipotent, then therefore nobody can ever murder anybody else. See where it doesn't make sense?
Huh? God says murder is bad, but God gave us free will. I don't understand what you are saying here. The issue with that is that the texts have changed...just look at the New Testament compared to the Old after all.Why is the old testament so different from the new? And why are there even two? Shouldn't god who knows everything be able to write one book at once that will apply forever? And Mytie said god was mad, but why would he be mad if he knows everything that will happen ever, including him being not mad anymore?
I'm not trying to attack anyone, I just really don't know.
The Old Testament is about an agreement between God and the Hebrew people specifically. The New Testament is about an agreement between God and all of humanity. The agreement DIDN'T CHANGE because they aren't the same agreement. Basically, the old testament is a history book of the Hebrew people, and a story about God making them His nation. He explains, through prophecy, that the special agreement he made with them will be given to everyone, and they won't be His people anymore, because they didn't appreciate the agreement in the first place. Instead of reading "Old Testament" and "New Testament", just read Old agreement, and New agreement. Jesus said that He wasn't there to do away with the old agreement, and He wasn't. He was there to set down a new offer entirely, and He completed the Old agreement, as in, fulfilled it, as in, paid the bill. That one has been fulfilled. It is no longer applicable, but wasn't "undone".

Dude, stop. We all know how this conversation is going to go. You wouldn't want Christianity to be judged based on the actions of extremists, stop judging Islam based on the actions of the same.
