The one technical error i found in the original post is for imp. SB, the 20% shadow damage debuff it creates does not apply to dot damage.I confirm that it does help the dots.
talking to the tanks i know it doesnt sound like the 5% damage decrease from shadow embrace is really worth the talent points, i find that it isnt really worth it to bother with the talent other than putting in a single point to augment drain life from soul siphon. They certainly shouldn't count on it for gearing purposes, and it can be consider that most of the gain is going to disappear into overhealing.
But still, 5% damage reduction IS interresting. Ask them to reduce their armor efficiency by 5% and see if they agree with that. It's not a requirement to have it in a raid, but it's certainly nice if you have it.
also, i fail to see how 3 points in fel concentration is useful, i think the last 2 points of suppression would serve better, as well as imp CoA.
They might not be usefull, but CoA shouldn't be used on bosses (Nefarion answered why already), and you're supposed to try for the hit cap without suppression, in order to boost your SB damage (~50% of your damage normally). ie putting them in CoA or Suppression is even more useless.
(Suppression is a very good talent while you are gearing up. But as soon as your hit catches up, you should drop as many points from it as you can)
i have 1150 unbuffed shadow damage, 10% crit, and around 75 hit rating atm and i usually end up in the top 5 of my guild's raids, including attempts on kael. When looking at templates efficiency, the question is not "how much do i rank among other dps". The question is "am i doing the most i could with what i have". CoA is not optimal, and Ruin before UA is not optimal either, meaning you could do more damage than currently,
theoretically
.
(because dot management requires some practice that might give you the impression you're doing less damage at the start)

Siphon Life SnF (21/0/40)
> Pros: Moderate damage, more self-sustaining, Imp-friendly.
> Cons: Gives up some damage than makes standard DS SnF golden.
> Comments: A Siphon Life variation on DS SnF. Useful because with Siphon Life and Improved Life Tap, it's more efficient and self-sustaining, and it can also run Imp for Blood Pact. This comes at the cost of the 15% damage buff of DS, and the other minimally useful Demo talents.
Ok, I am decently new to WoW. And I've got several friends who have locks, so naturally I'm getting opinions on builds all over the place. But I really like this one. Would it be suitable for a lvl 64 lock? I was always told that destruct was to be saved for endgame or for people who like to raid or pvp alot. Like I said I'm still sorta new. I've mostly just trained and solo'ed my way up. Any suggestions or ideas?
