I am with you, I did the opening quest once, and it is just a way too hokey for me to deal with.

I like the female pandaren in terms of animations/looks. Not so much the male, the chubbyness makes them feel slow somehow.
As for the starting zone I did feel lost in there when I first did the whole thing but second playthrough already felt easier and more fun.
Comparing to goblin and worgen, pandaren are still my favorite of the three races/starting zones.

odd, I actually loved the pandaren starting zone. It starts slow and boring, but it picks up very quickly, and once you reach the wood of staves, it has one of the saddest and most melancholic quests in the game. The music for that particular moment is what sets the mood so well.
As for why do I play pandaren..........
3 reasons.
A: Dyed hair Streaks. I LOVE THEM (my wife always has a dyed hair streak just for me ^^)
B: Their Dance is Caramelldansen. How could anyone say no to that?
C: Their facial expressions are actually THE most advanced in the entire game. They have more animations just on their face alone, than the rest of the races have in their bodies put together. I'm in awe that they were able to pull it off with a game engine as old as wow's.

different tastes for different people.
Many cant stand any number of the other races and love others.
Also values like the pandaran hold are often cast aside and laughed at. cause it aint "hip" and "in" and we're conditioned to spit on it.

So I pose this question to you WoWheaders: Why do you play pandaren? What makes you like playing the race? Is there anything I've been missing that actually makes the race enjoyable?
Personally, the deal was sealed in Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne. The Pandaren Brewmaster was just one of the more 'fun' Neutral Heroes, which left a strong and lasting impression.
As for their implementation in WoW, I'm not sure why. As my avatar, my Pandaren just..... feels natural.

I haven't rolled a Pandaren, and don't plan too. Just not my thing; also, I wonder why their bellies jiggle under plate.
In fact, I wonder how anything jiggles under plate. Kinda weirds me out lol

OP. You didn't say 'why' you couldn't play beyond level 5 or 6. You just said you couldn't.
I really like the Panderan starting zone. I completed it three times with no issues. But then, I don't read quests or anything, just get the task accomplished and hand in.
Cheers.

so i can feel like kung fu panda. jack black style.
What makes you like playing the race? you are playing a BEAR class.

blizzard focusing their direction on them asians..china likes pandas. according to a 2011 website that's not credited, china currently has 1,344,130,000 people. imagine if 1% of those people played wow. ON NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM. that's 13 more million subscribers.

Boobies have jiggled under plate armor since Vanilla.
Not that I'm complaining of course ;)

I would be quite worried if they didn't. What I'm more concerned about (and think that Rystrave is referring to) is that the Plate jiggles WITH them.

My first Pandaren was a male monk, and at first I thought the chubbiness might take away from what is supposed to be an agile class, but I found myself growing quite fond of him. However, only once I specialized as a brewmaster monk. I can see him drinking a lot, carrying heavy kegs, and taking hits. It sorta makes sense. Really, there's only a couple races that I would have a brewmaster monk on. For something like a windwalker or mystweaver, I'd rather set up a human or forsaken, or something.
My second Pandaren was a rogue female. I had never made a rogue before, and thought it might be funny to have a heavier sneaking class look. But, what again surprised me was how the Pandaren rogue kind of ends up turning into a ninja in a lot of ways. Rogues as a class never appealed to me that much, and when trying a new Pandaren I knew I didn't want a caster, so I just sort of lucked into it. Now, against all odds, my rogue is becoming my new main and I really am happy with it.
I wasn't too fond of the Pandaren before 5.0. I really wanted to play a monk, and I wanted to see the new content, so of course I rolled a Panda. But, somehow they stuck with me, and I feel like I'll keep a Panda in my normal rotation, even after the next race is released.

It's party rock shuffle, not Caramelldansen.

I'm with rankkorr, I really do like the hair coloring. But... :/ That's about it for pandas. I leveled a panda shaman because I had neither, and I found the starting zone to be a tad bit over done. It was like blizzard was trying too hard. I think that the quests did speed up and were better written toward the end when you had to choose sides. I really didn't enjoy collecting vegetables and beating 3 million monkeys; you do that enough when you hit 85.
One thing I can give them credit for though is the fact that it was still WAY faster than the worgen leveling zone. I have never felt trapped in WoW until I made my second worgen. The first worgen you think "gosh, this is neat! New buildings, new voices, werewolves, what more can you ask for?"
And then you have to do it all over and and you realize how poorly spaced the quests are. You shouldn't have to spend an hour just going between questing areas. And once you look at them in detail, they aren't really that cutting edge. The mining quests of that zone were eerily similar to picking those vegetables in the panda leveling area. It just felt like I was wasting time for the sake of gaining levels. Its like the developers were like "well bob...we ran out of cool quests to do. make up some tedious stuff to string it out till level fifteen".

/facepalm
Asia has 10000000000001 F2P games specifically designed for their tastes. What they don't have is a Western MMO.
Anything Asian related here is for Westerners, who don't think anything about the bad stereotypes it portrays. They don't understand the culture, they can understand martial art movies like "Kung Fu" and Chinese take out, though. -_-
Let it alone it stereotypes habits that also not healthy. Should Blizzard now make the Worgen the bing drinking Brits next?
It's that type of stuff that is a turn off, and a majority of it is due to cultural ignorance.

This is the order that I would play: Human, Undead, Night Elf, Blood Elf, Tauren, Pandaren. Rest are pretty much the same. As you might have guessed: I PvP mostly.
If there weren't any racials and chose based soley from asethetics I would go: Dwarf, Goblin, Troll, Worgen. I have always enjoyed playing a dwarf. My favorite dwarf race would be Rift's. The female dwarves were easily my favorite race/gender out of any game ever.
