Water too expensive?

What is up with all the healers lately refusing to buy water? I was just in a group with one, who kept asking for mana breaks but had no water. Do these people actually expect you to stand there for 3-4 minutes while their bar fills up 1% at a time, all because they are too tight to spend a few g on water?
This was not the first time I've seen someone like this, but in this case the first for me was that the rest of the group agreed with him. They were telling me things like "Yea I never buy water with my healer alt either, it's so expensive" and "Why pay money when mage food is free?"
Pointing out that a stack of water can be bought with the proceeds from a single quests was met with a "Lol." I asked what they do when there is no mage in the group, and the answer was "Leave and pray the next group has one."
Am I being reasonable to expect a healer to come prepared when they queue for a dungeon, or am I just expecting too much common sense from LFD groups?

I think you've had a bad run lately, that's all.
No, it's not unreasonable to expect people to be somewhat prepared for a run. I personally have never purchased water, but I find that mana restoratives accumulate in my bags from questing and I am constantly vendoring pots, water, mana food etc.
Crap attitude is crap, but I expect 3 people out of 10 to be jerks in some fashion, sometimes you just encounter those 3 in a row instead of interspersed with considerate people.

I'm a shadow priest, to answer your question. Even I carry a stack of water around, though I am not currently queueing as healer. Just seems like a no-brainer to me.
Sure, it's not needed most of the time, but what do you do if it turns out you do need mana, and you don't have any water with you? Standing there waiting for the bar to fill seems like the stupid option to me.

Most heal specs have some ability to recover mana faster. If they call for a mana break, then they *should* be using those abilities and it will take ~30 secs for them to be back up to full.
On the other hand, I have several stacks of mana food/drink on my healer at all times. If nothing else, I've sold more barley tea on the toons I've leveled in MoP than I can count.
OP, it sounds like you've just had a bad run of luck. It happens some times. Don't start blaming all healers, and hopefully your luck will turn around soon.

Just be glad you're not a mage. I had a whiny healer who kept yelling at the mage in my group to make him a table. When the mage finally did, he was upset because the mage was level 90, thus making the food from the table level 90 (while he was not). He then yelled at the mage to make another table with food he can use.

And we can no longer even claim not to have learnt the spell and/or not have reagents. Wait, maybe we can if they don't know otherwise.
Meh, for the very few occasions I queue without guildies I can run the risk of being kicked for refusing rude demands.

You're either doing a dungeon run with Scrooge McDuck, or you ran into a group of lazy, careless players.
A full stack of
Cobo Cola
comes to around 10 gold, which is practically nothing in Mists of Pandaria; you earn twice the amount from doing only one daily quest. I think there's no reason not to be carrying at least one stack of water, just in case. Additionally, most vendor food/drink in Mists of Pandaria has stat boosts, which gives even more reason to keep some around.
Bottom line: I think you're being perfectly reasonable.

Lazy healers.
I've been a pally lately who's only been ret and prot. I have water so I can mana up right after a spec change. :P

My cloth toons have traditionally invested in Alchemy specifically for the mana potions. I also seem to accumulate Refreshing Spring Water, Ice Cold Milk, Moonberry Juice, Filtered Draenic Water, and so on more rapidly than I can use it.
Any healer who can't be bothered to stockpile drinks instead of vendoring them prior to a dungeon is just being a n00b ass and needs to get kicked. Meanwhile, YOU should consider stocking up on this crapola just in case you need to open a trade window and donate it to the crap healer that you got stuck with and your group refuses to kick.
tl;dr - you're right and they're wrong.

Slight...okay massive problem with that; unless the Mana user is from your server, you can't trade them any of those items.

All of my mana using alts always have 2 or 3 stacks of water with them. What if I get stranded in Tanaris for a couple of weeks?

Not carrying any back-up water as a mana user is foolish if you rely heavily on mana to function. It is one thing if a paladin tank or dmg dealer carries no water, but as a healer it is plain dumb. So would not say you are out of line with your thoughts.
It is however bit rude for a mage refusing to put out a table if one would be present, but as we all know a healer should not rely on a mage being present.
Also thanks for the laugh with the line about a healer refusing spend cash on water due it would somehow make them broke. Makes you wonder how they handle repair bills:)
