Hello Wowhead Macro/ui community,
I have been trying to create a macro that will allow me a few simple things, but seem to have a lot of trouble doing so in the multiple ways i have tried, this is what brings me to you!
Pretty much i wanted a macro for my hunter that would allow me to:
a. if not in an aspect to enter either Aspect of the Hawk or Aspect of the Iron Hawk (if talented)
b. if in aspect of the hawk or iron hawk(if talented) to switch to aspect of the fox
c. if in aspect of the fox switch back to aspect of the hawk or iron hawk(if talented)
Also there is a possibility that i would like to insert aspect of the hawk/iron hawk into a shot or 2, and have no idea how to do so without modding it every time I re-talent.
The reason i keep saying (if talented) is because Aspect of the Iron Hawk actually replaces Aspect of the Hawk in the spellbook, If you have it talented.
I figure this would be really easy if i could only make the macro /use a stance button instead of actually having to cast the spell but i am at my wits end trying to figure this one out.
Here is an example of the crap macro i ended up with after several tries and a bunch of reading:
#showtooltip
/cast Aspect of the Fox; Aspect of the hawk, Aspect of the iron hawk; Aspect of the hawk,Aspect of the iron hawk
/script UIErrorsFrame:Clear()
This macro does not work as intended.
Any, And all help will be appreciated greatly.

#showtooltip
/use !Aspect of the Fox
/use !Aspect of the Hawk
/use !Aspect of the Iron Hawk
This works because of fallthrough. If "Aspect of the Hawk" does not exist, the line fails silently and the next one is executed then.
Same logic if you want to weave dancing into a rotation or shot macro. Just include both, each on its own line. The game will never attempt (and fail) to cast something that doesn't even exist (to you).

TBH I don't think the mods like me very much.
Not that I don't like helping. But there's even plenty more people who are just as helpful or moreso.

Regardless, you are a very kind, and polite person.
As I said, I appreciate your Wealth of knowledge, and ability to help macro noobs like me.
Though for some reason the macro does not seem to be working on my end.

It should work but I know they're pretty determined to *!@# over hunters(' macros). I don't have a hunter to test this on, but I don't see any immediate issue with the logic.

The macro doesn't work at all, it doesn't cast anything, it doesn't give an error, and the #showtooltip also isn't showing an image or tooltip.
I had a guildy test it, with the same results as me.
I tried removing the exclamation points, as well as the #showtooltip, but to no avail.
for some reason i think the form/stance conditionals just wont work for hunters....

I figured based upon your own usage of them, that they had been working in 5.0. Previously to that, they have not been, no.
Failing this, there is no good way to build the macro you want.

It was probably just ignoring those first two bits in the OP's macro, I guess.

i see this i will just have to deal with my old #$%^ty macro
#showtooltip
/cast aspect of the fox
/cast aspect of the hawk
for some reason when aspect of the hawk changes into aspect of the iron hawk, the game still reads it as aspect of the hawk, so this macro is all you really need.
thank you much for trying to help.

There are still some strange things in 5.0. Good to hear that these replacements work like this. Should simplify things enormously for users and macro-makers.

Yeah, dealing with stuff like casting
Ravage!
instead of
Ravage
was a big pain.

This also seems to only apply in certain situations, I have found already that it doesn't seem to work in cast-sequence macros.
though in the macro i posted earlier the standard macro it seems to work fine.

Couldn't help but notice Neffi using "/use" in his macro which might cause the macro not to work properly?
#showtooltip Aspect of the Hawk
/cast !Aspect of the Fox
/cast !Aspect of the Hawk
/cast !Aspect of the Iron Hawk
Let me know if this works.

/use is an alias to /cast. It does exactly the same thing.
Also it's worth looking at the latest 5.1 changes. Apparently they're
finally
fixing this terrible mechanic and just making Steady/Cobra shot usable while moving. Been a long time coming.
